  • First to Nandi Hills by my new GT 650

    Hi All,

I am new to xBhp and this is my first blog. I got my RE Continental GT 650 (Ventura Blue) from Acclaim Motors, Yelahanka, Bangalore on 21st June 2019. I booked this bike on 31st Mar. While booking, they told I'll get my bike after 5 to 6 months. But, luckily got my bike early. After receiving the bike, I was not able go on any ride due to my daughter's upcoming b'day and got busy for that. On a TGIF (Friday ) evening, thought like I'll go somewhere on my GT. I tried to contact one of my friend who is the owner of RE Interceptor 650. But, he denied due to some work. Then I decided will go solo to Nandi Hills (60 kms from Bangalore ; Famous Ride place). Meanwhile my cousin called me and he told to join me.

We were supposed to start by 6 AM. But we are Indians and started at 6:30 AM. On the way we took a short tea break. We saw many superbikers pass by. And those people took notice of my bike too. I was a bit uncomfortable riding on the hills as I am a new rider, this is a 200 kg bike and it was completely foggy. But the place and it's beauty are mesmerizing. The feeling if being a part of it cannot be explained in words or even via photographs. Only when one sees it with their own eyes, is when they can really appreciate the beauty of that place. As it was Saturday, the place was very crowded. I have been to Nandi Hills but I never saw this much crowd. I parked my GT, at owners risk of course. Afterwards, we went to do some light trekking. After roaming around for an hour or so, we came back. On my way back, we stopped somewhere near Nandi Hills to take pictures.

It was a great short ride and now, I am planning for a longer ride.

As that day was Saturday, the place was too much crowded. Literally too much of people. Many superbikers, cars, scooters and even some uncles came with their aunty's in rented activas. Before this I went to Nandi Hills many times. But, I have not seen such crowd. Then I parked my GT at obviously owner's risk. then went for to do some trekking. After roaming for 1 hour we came back. While return I stopped somewhere near to Nandi hills to take some pics. It was a great short ride. Now am planning for some long ride.

Hello and welcome to the family. Firstly, many congratulations on your purchase. Do post your review of how the motorcycle is performing as it may help a brother make a decision.
About the ride, the place is indeed mesmerizing. The photos, while they may not do full justice to the actual beauty of the place, are beautiful nonetheless. We'd suggest that you do a few more short trips to get accustomed to your motorcycle and its mannerisms and then take up a long ride.
Do keep us posted on your short rides and your plan for the long one as well.
    Keep riding and ride safe.

              Beautiful bike...Love the colour!

Once I have donned my black helmet, I become anonymous. My face ceases to identify me. My black visor shields others from the rigours of my passing glance while shielding me from their attempts to peer into my soul. I am an anonymous rider shrouded in black. I am no longer a specific self. I am a passing Traveller.

Nandi hills early mornings are usually crowded and this being festive/holiday season would attract all sorts of people.

Hope to catch you on the highways sometime.

P.S : Change your helmet soon.
