  • Himalayan Expedition: Uttarakhand in the month of October

Arunachal PradeshThe aim of this thread is to pool as many xBhpians as possible for the trip. So without spending any further here is the rough plan.

Initially I thought of starting the ride from Delhi but now I have revisited my plan and I will be riding from Satara/Ahemdnagar,Maharastra.

    16th October: Satara - Bhopal

    17th October:18th October:19th October:20th October:21st October:22nd October:23rd October:24th & 25th October: Ride , push till Gangotri. Explore new offroad trails and ride on ice(Black ice) if possible.

26th October:27th October:28th October: Hand over the bike to Gati and take a flight back to Mumbai.

Rough Cost of the whole trip: Rs 25K.Breakup will be up very soon.

There is a possibility that I may extend the plan by one more day but as of now these are the dates. It will be approximately 4500km round trip from Satara and around 3000odd kms from Delhi.

Now since I have started the thread I should be able to give a better shape to the plan and post regular updates in this thread.

MG, the plan seems real nice. Why Uttarakhand, and not Himachal? I say cover most of the Himachal, including Spiti!

@Aryan-I haven't been to Spiti but I have been to Himachal many a times and the state holds a very special place in my heart. Have been to Uttrakhand only once and that too not a bike trip. Also whenever I will be riding to Himachal I need atleast 20-25 days in my hand.

Aryan, You are underestimating This beautiful state. Aren't you
@ MG. It was always U'khand. Dirty Indian politics made it Uttaranchal. But at the end of the day, what's there in the name.
If rain-gods and parents permit, You may get few inputs on the itinerary from my side too.

@Sneh: Nope, I do not underestimate ANY state or ANYONE. It's just that I personally find Himachal MUCH more attractive than Uttarakhand, especially after doing Spiti lately.

Pardon me but don't know somehow the name Uttaranchal sounds better to me and I loves calling it that only.

Regarding VOF, it is out of bounds after October AFAIK. Leave something for the next time too.
See if you can trek upto Gomukh.

Oh yeah!! Then i guess we have our respective destinations decided, the only problem is that they are in different directions so we can't ride together and moreover i have much more important things coming up so can't really take time out right now!!

That's the irony my friend!! When you are busy you wish you had free time and when you are really free you wish you had some work!!
Bloody double edged sword it is!!
