  • Not the Himalayas but Bridlington and Cumbria

    Hi folks,

Like it says, not the Himalayas (unfortunately)... We've just had a couple of ride outs over the last two days to a seaside town called Bridlington on the east coast of England and the other was to the Lake District (Cumbria). The weather here has been stunning over the last week.

    Here ya go.
History... it's just one bloody thing after the other!

With that kind of roads and weather, there will be a different kind of riding magic being weaved. So what if not Himalayas, nevertheless the sea side ride should make up for it.

Nice pics Jim. Was it a Solo ride?

Cloudless skies with those slanting rays coming in make for very "Impressionistic" colours, very Monet kind of effects. Lovely stuff. If its not raining, it makes for a wonderful ride...

                  Keep 'em coming!

Totally made me laugh out LOUD!
Once seen, a "pishy" day in Glasgow is never forgotten.

Thanks for all your comments dudes, much appreciated. On both rides I wanted to stop off for pics more but, most often, the opportunity didn't present itself and the fish suppers were calling our names.

I didn't take a pic of the fish n chips, but I should have. Excellent grub. On the way out of Bishop Auckland where Sal stay's, on the morning of the seaside ride, there's a burger van in a deep lay-by (our dhaba? ) where we fed and watered before the ride. as I rode away, I thought , damn, I should have sent the lads a picture of that! I'll grab a pic the next time we head that way.

Sal (GF) was with me on her HD. I'll post some more pics of both runs.
The Seaside one (Bridlington) was done all in the cause of food. We were sitting the previous night thinking about where to go and I said I wanted fish n chips. That kind of conversation can see us in places like Faro as happened last year.
This time the seaside won. The ride down was a fast blast down the A19 to Thirsk and turn slighty left. The sea should be about an hour away dead ahead. It was. We'd gone through some stunning country lanes to get there on real twisty 'B' roads. Great stuff. My Harley isn't that brilliant at swinging through the bends superfast but if you get it set up for a series of bends and you hit the 1st just right (which doesn't always happen with the bouncy suspension on a cruiser) it can pay off big time.
There were a reasonable number of sports bikes out and I often feel the need to stay with them on the road, to show that I still can (LOL). That lasts about a hundred metres as the Harley starts to bounce.
I wish I had taken more pics to show you as, to describe the route and the colours and the scents like wild garlic and the hills and the forests and the lakes and , and , and .... would take.... a week.
I can say that on both days, We rode through some of the best countryside that England has to offer and it was a pleasure to do so.
The Cumbria ride didn't have a food factor this time but just a wish to ride in good country. Again it was a blast along an A road (A66) over the moors then down into sweeping valleys and the land of lakes.
The previous pics 6 & 7, were taken on the way back through Cumbria. I'll put other pics up soon as.
                          Cheers again.
                          Jim
