I had put all the post card in post letter box in presence of the post master.

This is that post master of this unique post office at Hikkim. He is Mr. Rinchen Chhering and he is working there as all rounder since 1983. The mail is carried to Kaza. The post office is forced to shut during winter months due to heavy snowfall.

Mr. Rinchen is very shy person and speaks very less. And lots of tourist comes to this post office just to post letter from here.
I then started my ride back to Kaza. This was view of Hikkim on the way back.

This is the bird’s eye view of Kaza on the way back.

Looks a tiny town compared to the surrounding mountains.

And this is the fantastic view of Spiti Valley from here.

I wanted to stay here and enjoy the view for hours.

But it was 2.00pm already and I need to have lunch at Kaza.

During my way back my bike was having lot of noise in back mud guard. During evening there lots of vehicles in queue at IOC petrol pump of Kaza. So decided to top up petrol at noon only to avoid rush.

At 2.30PM, I reached at Highest Fuel Station of the World at 12270 feet at Kaza.

But by that time I reached here, I lost one of nut bolt of my back mud guard.

Another important point of my ride was now covered.

This fuel pump does not accept cards. They accept cash only as the network connectivity is very poor. I topped up petrol here and asked attendant to click picture for me.

Then I went to hotel Deyzor for lunch at 3PM. This was my lunch. On that day there were lots of Mahindra Four wheelers there due to some Mahindra event.

After finishing lunch at 4.00pm, I went to bike mechanic to fit a new nut bolt for my back mud guard. I had lost one nut bolt and other one was very loose. If this second one will fall then there is chance of accident.

After that I went back to hotel and washed my bike and in the evening I just moved around the Kaza Town.
This was my dinner.

And this was my ride map of the day.

Coming up…Next….Kaza to Nako, via Pin Valley, Kungri Monastery, Dhankhar, Tabo, & Gue Mummy.

Day 13 = Kaza to Nako, via Pin Valley,

Kungri Monastery, Dhankhar, Tabo & Gue Mummy.

Total 223 Kms

Ride time 7.30AM to 7:30 PM.

My original plan was to stay at Mud village of Pin Valley. After having breakfast at hotel, I started at 7.30AM. Weather was sunny and clear.
The road was good with River Spiti on my right and big pillar like carvings by nature on my left.

At 8.10Am, I reached the bridge from where road to Pin Valley starts. This is called Attargo Bridge.

After crossing Spiti River, those nature’s carvings were looking more beautiful.

Just to get an idea about its size, compare those with vehicles running on road near it.

There was very less water on Pin River.

At 8.40AM, saw this small bridge on Pin River.

This was view behind me.

At 8.50AM, saw these bridges, which goes to Tangti Village.

After riding 5 minutes, saw Tangti Village across Pin River.

There were lots of small plants near road with red fruits.

And view ahead was beautiful.

My next point was Kungri Monastery. This was the entry Gate.

This Monastery is at Upper Gulling Village. There road was ascending now.

I was getting good view of Pin River.

I could see some snow capped mountain on far.

At 9.15AM, I reached Kungri Monastery / Gompa.

There were lots of vehicles and huge crowd there. It looked as if some celebration was going on.

It was the birth day celebration of current Guru of Monastery. He was sitting inside and lots of people were waiting for celebrations to start.

Monastery was having lots of paintings on the wall.

Lots of Laddu sweets were kept there.

Prayer flags were also decorated in compound of Gompa.

There were lots of rooms around compound of this Gompa. In one room I saw these. It looked as if these were to be used for today’s celebrations.

People were waiting for the event and sitting calmly.

In another room, I saw two young girls wearing traditional attire.

They allowed me to click a picture.

It looked as if there was some time left for celebrations to begin.
There is another new Monastery just outside. So I came outside and thought of visiting it too. There was no place left for parking.

This was main gate of Monastery.

Some vendors were selling some flags and other products outside.

Saw these beautify items inside new Monastery. This looked like a treasure.

It looks as they have small library.

Prayer diyas were also there.

There was a store near new Monastery, selling lots of chocolates, biscuits, cold drink etc. Preparation was also going on for food for all the visitors nearby. Whole area was crowded.

At 9.45AM, I re started my ride towards Mud village.
This was the view of Sangnam Village on the way.

Here two parts of Pin River meets. One comes from Pin Valley Nation Park side and another from Mud Village side.

I crossed this bridge over Pin River near Mikkim Village. After crossing this you can reach Sangnam Village.

Some peaks had snow also.

After crossing Sangnam village from outside road, I moved towards Mud. At 10.20AM, reached this was bifurcation for Mud Village and Tailing Village.
