Pictures don’t do justice to the magical beauty of this place and yes, it does take your breath away.

Excuse me as it's my first travelogue ever!

The Ruins Of Hampi - It all started with a dream. A journey of 1400 kms through NH4 where there is hardly any traffic after you cross Kolhapur and enter into Karnataka , beautiful scenery that makes you and your problems look so little. Nothing can explain what we experienced during this journey, I have tried to capture what I could though. Above everything I saw, what I take back from this journey is those wonderful and beautiful moments on the saddle riding through changing terrains, weather and a fellow rider who always rode along no matter what!

    Prologue:
It all started when I heard about this wonderful place through many people, social media and other TL on xbhp.
I eagerly wanted to explore this place and I knew the road is going to be heaven especially after kolhapur! Few weeks back one of my friend went there, I missed a chance to go with him as my schedule didn’t allow me to do so and needed a break from 9-5 mundane routine.
I asked many for company but with most of my close friends not being too much into motorcycling, riding with one of them seemed a bit impossible at that point. So I decided to go solo. Fortunately one of my friends who does not ride nowadays and only roams around on four wheels, was pissed off as we didn’t go out for a ride after I took a delivery of my beloved benelli. Apparently the travel bug had finally bitten him. We used to ride from apache and unicorn days!
Plan was set, got my leaves approved and phase of ride preparation started!

    Day 1 - The Journey
As usual couldn't sleep due to excitement of the ride.
Woke up at 5.00 AM sharp. (I am a lazy person but when it comes to ride I suddenly become punctual). It was dark outside. We started riding at 6.00 AM.

Its usual road for riders from pune typical NH4 Pune-Satara-Kolhapur. After riding about 30 kms by the time of sunrise, we were greeted by beautiful landscapes. There is something magical about this road that fascinates me every single time I ride on it.

Decided to stop for a cup of tea and misal pav. Because it’s a crime if you order something else other than misal pav when in Kolhapur.

After Kolhapur amazing road starts and we didn’t wanted to halt on this beautiful patch of tarmac as we were going to cover 650kms on that day.

    Somewhere Near Hubli.

After hubli we halted for some refreshment and fuel stop but decided to have lunch instead as it was already 3 PM.

Met amazing BMW riders from tamil nadu. After some chit chat we resumed our journey. We were riding calmly it took us almost 15 hrs to cover 650kms. Last 100 kms of patch is bad.

Somewhere before 80 kms from hampi.

Entered hampi and after a bit of struggle managed to find our hotel location.
It was already 10 PM all the hotels were closed. Hotel guy offered us simple yet delicious rice & rassam.

    Day 2 & 3 - Hampi exploring starts!

A biker will be happy as long as there is good and safe parking for the bikes!

Our hotel was 5 kms away from actual hampi market. Woke up at 10 AM as it was our first time covering that many kms in a day. Did usual biker stuff chain lubing n all.

At first we thought of getting a guide as there is no point visiting locations with no information. But we decided to ditch that idea and explore by ourselves. Got a small book with map, this book have all information about places to visit, their significance, ancient history and so on.

An experience you will not want to miss is taking a coracle boat ride on the Tungabhadra river. A coracle boat is a round, shell-shaped boat made up of interwoven bark (almost like a flattened basket) and is the preferred means of crossing the river for villagers.

The Pushkaranis are the sacred water tanks that are attached to the temples. Most of the major temples in Hampi have a pushkarani built near them. The pushkaranis were a prominent feature of the ruined town.

You can get luxury hotels in Hospet which is 10-15 kms away from Hampi OR you can stay in actual hampi market hotels. These hotels are value for money with decent facilities serving delicious food.

Man, your trip made me so nostalgic of the place...was there about twenty years ago...So glad to see the market hotels and the Main Street hasn’t changed one bit.

Sure enough, your post might definitely encourage other riders to visit this amazing place.
