  • [Photo Feature]: Ride to Mudigere from Hyderabad - With Dad and Friend

Indeed very few people out there are lucky to share common interests with their dads, specially biking. I am one such lucky persons.

Successfully completed a trip to Mudigere (not a very well known tourist destination) just before the on set of Covid19 lockdown, covering around 3000 kilometres.

Rest of the story after the post gets approved.

          Day - 1 : Hyderabad - Bengaluru - Hasan - Sakleshpur - Mudigere

The journey started at around 2 o clock in the night, while my friend (rides a Yamaha R3) and I (ride the Vstrom 650 XT) slept like dogs before starting the ride. However my dad could not get so lucky. He had to attend a part after day's work and he practically did not get any sleep before the start. Once we settled on the bike, we started towards Bengaluru. I kept checking with my dad if he was comfortable or not. The initial 600 kilometres were going to be super straight and uneventful. By the time the dawn hit, we were few hundred kilometres away from home. We took two tea and butt breaks to keep ourselves awake and completely in senses. The weather was really pleasant throughout.

We stopped for breakfast after the sun was out completely (8:00 AM), splashed some cold water on the face and I felt fresh again. Used some eye relaxant eye drop and had a good steaming hot Dosa, and off we went. Mile-munching is pretty easy on bigger machines like my Vstrom 650XT, having come from a 125cc (Gladiator) and 150cc(Fazer Fi) background, this just felt too easy to me. My dad was at perfect ease too, comfy and spacious rear seat did help!

We looked for a shortcut to avoid Bengaluru city traffic and took a right turn towards Hassan. So bypassed Bengaluru at around 10:30 Am and stopped for lunch at a restaurant names "Swati Delicacy" on the highway. The food was really good and reasonably priced. Roads were pretty good till Hassan with occasional speed bumps. Post Sakleshpur, roads went from bad to worst. The bike's cone started making horrible noises. It made me nervous and I slowed down.

Soon we were on country roads moving towards Mudigere. We had booked our stay through AirBnb. Took two more butt and hydration breaks before reaching our stay. On reaching, go a little confused and finally the property owner came for our rescue (4:40 PM). The approach road was under construction and I had a blast negotiating my 216 kgs mammoth on that incline with loose stones. The motorcycle being new did not have any protection on it - no crashbars / skid plates. I was rather nervous, so took it easy. My riding partner (riding the R3) lost his confidence and patience at the same time and took the property owners offer, parked his bike at his place and traveled in his 4X4. I totally enjoyed the off-roading section afterall ADV was put to proper use.

All three of us totally fell in love with the stay and location (5:20 PM). The stay was on the top oh a hill (Hill was owned by the property owner) and covered with Dad was super happy and tired at the same time. We had coffee, which was very nice and dinner (food was also very nice) at the property's cafe and explored around a little bit. Dad went to sleep early that night as he was tired being sleepless for almost 24+ hours. My riding partner and I went exploring into the Mudigere town on my bike. On few sections on the approach road, he got off and I rode down my bike. We got some essentials from the town and had some Indian snacks like mirchi bhajji and coffee. The weather did get chilly as the sun had set.

My friend and I explored around the property and found the place super amazing. The darkness made things a little scary though. Jungles are full of noises and the place being away from the road, there was absolutely no traffic noise. The experience was surreal, gazing at the stars and listening to Jungle noises. We went to bed late that night.

Total distance covered that day was around 820 kilometers in under 14 hours.

@Admins - Please suggest the best way of uploading full size photos on Xbhp. The moment I reduce the resolution to upload they get uploaded in variable sizes. Please help me out with the photo upload thing.

Mototech Wanderer, just follow the link Sajalsheth sir gave. His photos when opened in new tab will have something like "static.live.." in its name. Thats the method you want to use. Test it on the Fazer thread by uploading a picture of the blue painted alloy!

Re: Ride to Mudigere from Hyderabad - With Dad and Friend

The Second day was a lazy morning. We had a good night sleep and woke up fresh and full of energy again but chose to laze around the beautiful stay. It was a hill covered in jungle and we explored around. Also tried some drone shots. At around 2 PM we started for Kudhremukh. On the way we stopped by at Bhadra Coffee shop. We had some really yummy bread-omelette and coffee in the Bhadra Coffee Shop. Also tried our their authentic coffee jelly with fresh cream. After that, we continued towards Kudhremukh. Unfortunately it got dark by the time we entered Kudhremukh National park. We still had an amazing ride through. It was a thrilling experience over all. We also stopped at the KIOCL town at a small shop for a bottle of water and some snacks.

After getting out of the National Park, we stopped at a small shop for a cup of coffee. They also told us they conduct treks to Kudhremukh. After that, we started looking for a restaurant for dinner as we had not asked the farm-stay owner to prepare our dinner. We did not get a very good place, but managed with some locally prepared tomato rice, raita while my dad had Dosa.

After our dinner we rode the last 50 kilometers to our farm stay. I also helped my friend ride his bike up to the farm stay. It was fun off-roading on a sports tourer and it was quite manageable too.

VLOG FOR THE DAY 2 :

Will be uploading the photos shortly!
