I bought the thing two years ago as something utilitarian (I like to say ugly but people always seem to need to reassure me that it isn't... But hey I love ugly, ridiculous stuff!) that could easily go off-road or the highway... Not much real offroading space in my area, but there's tons of gravel backroads.
People always go on about "70MPH all day long" and it'll do it but for the longest time I wasn't comfortable doing it. It felt floaty and twitchy and even short highway trips left me pretty tired.
So then I mostly just ripped around the city but that's not interesting for long and traffic is bullshit so tbh I was kind of feeling like maybe I either just don't enjoy riding like I thought I would or maybe I need to look into something bigger and more of a cruiser (which, yeah eventually I want like a 90s goldwing or something but that's a ways off).
Couple weeks ago I tried a fork brace to stiffen up the front end and it felt so much better that I put a bit of a review up on the DR sub (and was told by some people it's not worth doing).
Regardless of what others say, I've put more time on the bike in the last three weekends than I did all last summer. It's just more stable which means more relaxing which means I'm heading further afield and having more fun. NOW I feel like I could take it on a trip to the coast if I ever had the bloody time, or into the states if it wasn't a disease-riddled dystopia (hey just poking some fun here folks). I'm feeling all the shit that motorcycles have the potential for and I don't feel like I need a different bike (although hey, old Goldwings are still dope)
