    The Riders and their Steeds

    Suvo(Zma 'R, Black) (Xbhp ID - suvo)
    Neil(Zma 'R, Yellow) (Xbhp ID - neil_1668)
    Soumyarshi(RTR 160)
    Ani(P220) (Xbhp ID - A_n_i )
    Prashant(Yam. R15)
Abir(P150 Dtsi) (Xbhp ID - abir)

    The Ride

We planned this trip 2 weeks before we started (Ghatsila-Jamshedpur-Dalma hills, etc). 6 Riders and around 860kms covered...

Everyone was there at my place by 2am, Ani was the last to arrive. Everybody said that they will come late at night after having dinner, but they didnt ...So, Me & Neil went out to arrange for some food. All the hotels were closed, luckily found a small dhaba and got some food there. We had Dinner and we were ready to start...

    Day 1

It was just passed 3am, we tied our luggage to our bikes and we were almost ready to leave my home and start our 3 day long Roadtrip. By 3:10am we were already on the road. I was leading, we were going on a constant speed of 80-90kmph. It was a smooth ride, and the NH6 was awesome. But even in the month of April, it was damn cold, we were not expecting such temperature so we were literally shivering..

Around 3:45am we reached Kolaghat, our first stop. Took some pics. Had some tea, and few rounds of cigs than started off around 4:40am from kolaghat.

    Our bikes parked at Kolaghat

Around 5:10am, we could see the sunrising slowly in our RVMs so we took a small break, clicked some pics, then started our ride towards Bahargoda.

    Ready to start

    Near the inter-state border

The road were pretty good till the inter-state border but after that the roads were pretty bad till Bahargoda, our 2nd stop. By now all of us were damn hungry and as soon as we reached bahargoda we pounched on some 'Luchi and torkari' and tea. Our bikes were parked in front of the dhaba and everyone was looking like they were some kind of exta-terrestial objects ...

    Hungry Soumyarshi

Started off from there after half'n'hour or so. Stopped on the way for a few times to take some pics. We reached ghatshila around 10:10am. Looked for some proper and cheap hotel to stay and found one, just about a kilometer from the highway. Got two rooms, Nice place and well maintained rooms. We were damn tired and it was freaking hot so we quickly took a bath, had lunch and had went off to sleep.
Than at around 4:30pm we decided to visit the nearby faldungri hills and other hills. 1st stop was faldungri hill. Reached the top, took some pics than decided to visit the other hill range there.

    Left->Right - Ani,Abir,Neil,Soumyarshi,Prashant,Me

The P220 on top of Faldungri Hill

There were practically no roads from now on. We did a fair bit of off-roading. Reached the next hill. We started to ride-up, but after sometime it was completely dark and met some people who also warned us about a herd of wild elephants that were presently roaming the hills. Still we decided to go a bit further, take some rest than start our ride downwards.

    Just after the sunset

While coming down, we lost our way but after a fair bit of roaming we finally found our way back. We returned to the hotel around 7:15pm. Took some rest and had some snacks. We than went out for dinner and a small night-ride around the place after that....

    Day 2

Started off at 5:05am, went to the subornorekha river Dam. Saw the sunrise there, took some pics.

    Me & Neil

Then went to a nice dhaba on the highway for breakfast(Aloo paratha and Dahi ). A fair bit crowd gathered in the Dhaba and were asking us various questions, like from where did we come from, etc...

    Yummy !!!

Then we went back to the hotel, packed our bags and left for Jamshedpur at 10:10am.
Riding was very tiring because it was extremely hot. Ani's bike had a problem on the way, the fuel pipe came off, and lost around 3ltrs of petrol. We fixed it up. We reached Jamshedpur around 11:24am. Then went to Dimma Lake & Dam, directly, took some pics.

    Dimna lake

Our bikes parked @ Dimna Lake

Then the hunt for a suitable hotel began, and finally after 3 hrs of searching and footpeg scrapping on the mountain roads, we finally found a hotel. Around 7pm, we again went to Dimma dam. Returned to the hotel at 9:50pm.

    Day 3

At 10am, we went out for breakfast. Then went to Dalma hills around 25-30kms from Jamshedpur. Reached Dalma Wildlife sanctuary checkpost at 11:28am. It was a rule, we had pay to take our cameras inside. We paid for one camera but Ani and neil took their cameras secretly without paying . The off-roading was fun, and we ripped our bikes pretty hard. Reached the top of Dalma at 1:50pm and took some pics.

Neil on his way to the Top(Dalma Watch-tower)

    My bike

    Ripping

Me, standing on the edge of a well, in Dalma

A wild monkey was pulling Neil's bag and no one was there with him, so i went close, and tried to distract the monkey. But that monkey thought that my hand was a piece of delicious cake and gave it a big bite . Neil took out his first-aid kit and did a temporary dressing coz it was bleeding. Ride downwards was really fun. Switched off our engine, but due to the slope our bikes were cruising around 70kmph at some point on our way downwards.

Than went to Chandil river for bath. My camera went out of battery so no pics of Chandil, maybe Neil or Ani could post a few. At 7:16pm, all of them forced me to take a injection coz of the monkey bite . Reached hotel at 7:30pm, took some rest. At 11:10pm we went for a ride in search of food but all the shops were close. But finally we found a dhaba around 4-5kms away. We went to sleep at 4am.

    Days 4

Woke up than went to Jubilee park. Returned to hotel at 2:30pm and started packing quickly coz we were getting late. We fuelled up our bikes except Neil, at Jamshedpur. At 5:22pm we reached Ghatsila and had lunch. The R15's clutch cable snapped and there were no mechanics nearby so we used Ani's P220's clutch cable in the R15 for the time being. Coz of all this we got a bit late. At 5:57pm we started from ghatsila. At 6:58pm we reached Bahargoda. Me, Ani and Soumyarshi waited for Neil for refuelling. Than we caught-up to the others near Bahargoda. Some localite stole my gloves near Kharagpur when we were taking a short break to fix-up soumyarshi's leg gaurd . Around 9:39pm, we reached Kolaghat. Prashant went alone coz he was getting late. We took a small break to click some pics and have some cigs.

    On our way back

At 11:40pm we reached our home safe n sound . And the trip was over . Days of planing and preparing finally paid off, we had a very successful Trip.

You went to my hometown!!! I have visited Dimna lake, but with my parents in the picnic seasons as a kid. The riding bug bit me much later.

Nice read! And some very nice photographs. Especially like the one facing the two bikes coming towards you with the sun rays behind on top of the Subornorekha damn I think. Next time when you approach a monkey, ALWAYS be armed. And after any animal bite, do get yourself a rabies shot! Thanks for sharing.
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!
