  • A Date with Nature: Ride to Kuntala Waterfalls

Starting off with the teaser picture. More and more pictures and the trip log coming up.

Kuntala Waterfalls Ride was planned well before the ride date, It was supposed to be on June end, but delayed entry of Mr. Monsoon made us to postpone the ride to 11th of July. Though its still not the season to visit, But we did visit and there is always next time.

The whole ride was simply awesome, Best of all I have done. Gorgeous NH-7 with its 4-Lane spread for almost 100kms and then becomes a Bi-Lane with very bad patces. NH-7 Showed us its best and worst parts. Roads as wide as 50mts and as narrow as 8mts. Whole ride was excellent except a small fall by one of the rider. Nothing serious though.

    Riders & Ride
    1. Kiran (Karizma)
    2. Raghu aka Booo (FZ16)
    3. Riaz, Myself (CBZ Xtreme)
    4. Shashi (Karizma)
    5. Shastry (Apache 150)
    6. Vishnu (Apache RTR)
    7. Prabhakar aka Probiker (Pulsar 220 Fi)
    8. Tejas (Pillion on CBZ Xteme)

I would love to see pics from Kiran's camera. Wait till next updates.

Some Gyan about the Kuntala Waterfalls:
According to the popular and prevalent local beliefwho fell in love with each other and were mesmerized by the scenic beauty of the surroundings. The locals also believe that Shakuntaala used to bathe by the waterfall.
River Kanda flowing through the dense forests; at this point comes gushing and falls from a height of 45metres.One has to experience the sight of water splashing down with such a force that water below turn into whirls.

Riaz, thanks for starting a separate thread. Thought of asking you guys to start a new thread, as Sarvajit made his log just for his group.

      Waiting for pics and log.

The teaser pic is really good. Wonder how much rain should the area receive to fill the entire rock. Would like to see it in full swing.

I guess it would be more good after august. These falls are very wide that, if it fills completely...then that would be most spectacular sight.

This Picture will give fair Idea how tall the falls are.

It was decided the earlier day that we would be starting at 5.00am, So I set up my alaram to 4 and got off to sleep. Next scene, I hear some one calling my name, Its my wife waking me up, I was shocked to see time as 4.30am. I hurried up, I had already packed up everthing the previous night, So its just Ready, Jet Set go for me.

I had to pickup my pillion (Tejas), So I called him up and checked his status, Luckily he was already awake and ready, With in 10mins I reached is his palce, I found him waiting near the main road. So once on board, We started towards meet point which is almost 15kms away and time was already 5.15. Finally we arrive at the schedules meeting spot "Runway 9" and was surprised to see more number of riders than the people on confirmed list.

Vishnu on his RTR, Adhish with his gorgeous Eliminator, Sahstry with his Apache 150, Kiran and shashi on their respective red and black ZMA, Prabhakar with his P220, Raghu aka Boo on FZ16 and Satish there so see us off. Since this is quite a long ride (Read 250kms one way) we decided to leavy at 5.00am itself so as we would hav enough time to see the places, But it was already 6.00am. All of us were busy calling Kriss who was supposed to joing the ride, But he did not recived the call. LAter in the day found out from satish that his Alaram ditched him.

So, We are 8 now with 7 bikes. We had prepared our action plan by that time, Decided that first stop would be at Kamareddi which is exactly 100kms from the meetspot on NH7. We would be having our breakfast at AP Tourism restaurant. These chain of restaurants are known to be good. We were ready to leave now, Once nessecary bikes were filled with petrol. The Ride Begins.

Its one of tghe best roads I have seen, NH7 is complete 4 lane till kamareddi, will almost all the things that are required for a good highway and fast moving vehicals. My new Xtreme had just completed its 1500kms and was still under some Run-In. But it had been tough time to catch up with other bikes since I dont wanted to rip my bikes atleast till 2000kms. But things went out control and I had to rip with tejas as my pillion, I was able to steadly catchup with all other bikes. We could easily ride on full throttle for longer durations, Since it was still morning and not much traffic around, we were able to easily maintain more than 100kms speed. Best part was my faulty CBZ Xtreme speedo was showing us crazy figures, Making us fastest of all the bikes in the ride as per speedo, 160kmph being the maximum mark on the speedo dial, my bike crossed 160 and it almost returned to zero in clockwise direction.

So, with an average speed of more than 75kmph, We reached kamareddi by 7.45 at setteled down at AP tourism restaurant called Haritha.

                      We had our Breakfast here

Baby Bikers , Playing at the Breakfast Stop.

We ordered Idly and Pooris I think, As these were the items only available over there. Once all our tummys are filled with first spell of food, We started back the ride starting at 8.30AM. Once we started our ride back on NH7, Suddenly the beautifull 4-Lane NH 7 coverts itself in to a 2 Lane one, from here we had to ride the old highway which passes through various vllages, So obviously our speeds came down, But my Xtreme is still able to touch 150/160kmph with ease . Me with tejas as my pillion were almost in the lead with rest of the bikers behind us, My phone kep on ringing for a while, So We have to stop at a place and checked that kiran has been calling me, I called him back but he was not taking the call. So we thought of waiting for people to catch us.

Tejas, Taking some Rest after beging pillion for almost 120kms.

I called back kiran after some more time, Only to hear that Shastry had a small accident. ...

Here are few refreshing pictures from Kiran's CAM.

Clicked at Lawn near the waterfalls.

Raghu aka Boo on his FZ16, Excellent shot. Only FZ Tire can handle that tarmac at the curve, It was very scary.

Adhish on his Eliminator, Lovely bike

Thanks for starting the log Riaz...
I am starting off a bit before from where Riaz ended....

After traveling for some kms after having breakfast the 4-lane bliss ended and there was just a narrow strip of road between the woods. The greenery around was just great..
Meanwhile we missed Shastry but we were sure that he was before us only... while going Prabhakar noticed him sitting in a mechanic shop, after inquiring, we came to know that Shastry had a minor accident. He just had a bruise on his leg and the bike's panels were damaged, also the disc brake was not working as the oil compartment was broken. Prabhakar and Boo tried fixing it but could not..finally we thought of giving the bike in a TVS service centre and get it fixed.

While all of us were waiting at the mechanic, Riaz ripped past us but could not notice us waiting there because of the 160 speed he was maintaining on his X-Treme So thats where I gave him many missed calls

From here we went to a TVS sevice centre in Nirmal (40kms from the water falls) and gave the bike for repair, we said the service centre guy that we'll take it back after a couple of hours while going back...

Even Riaz and Tejas met us and together we started off for Kuntala (Shastry was sitting as pillion with Vishnu now).

On the way we stopped by to take some food as Riaz told that there would not be any shops near the waterfalls. But we could not get anything other than Lays & Haldiram's packets. As something is better than nothing we took them and started off again... After some distance the much awaited ghat section begun, but the road was in a very bad condition and we did not dare cornering on that road... I stopped by the first view point where there was ample place to park our bikes for some photography.

Here are the first pics from my cam
I did zero modifications for the pics to retain their original beauty and give you a glimpse of what exactly we saw around us

                              A MEDITATING monkey

                              A tribute to our ancestors

                              Some portraits...

                              Every1 in their own mood

You will find a lot of solo pics I clicked for my ZMA

                              Riaz with his third eye...

                              My ZMA again...

                              The greenery around

                              Tejas admiring the nature...

An fstop in wide screen mode

                              The ghat section...

Riaz tried to corner but did not as the loose soil around was quite scary.

Some more solo pics of my baby
