Chapter 3 : Through the crossroads to Andra Dam

Jadhavwadi was basically a detour. It wasnt in the plan but it turned out pretty well. Now we had a long way to go Andra dam.Asking one of the locals
at Jadhavwadi, we were told that we had to continue to follow the road that we followed to get to the dam(bad news) until we came to the MIDC chowk.
We then had to a right from the junction to head towards Andra dam.
So we started riding again, the road continued to do its worst to slow us down. But road got a little better as we went ahead, rocks and much was replaced
by loose gravel and patchy tarmac. Soon this gave way to a smooth stretch of tarmac with stripe running through it. We knew we had arrived at the MIDC chowk

As instructed we took a right from the crossroad, now everybody had a tough ride so far, where they had to subdue much of their desire to open the
throttle. The nice smooth stretch ahead of us seemed all the more inviting. As expected every body just let the throttle fly now. But this joy was short
lived as soon everybody had to brake hard, as the tarmac gave way to a mushy, wet kachcha road. It was back to being slow and cautious. This was
one of the things we expected on thius trip anyway, lack of proper roads. The roads we were riding on were meant for trucks and heavy vehicles and not
bikes. After about 20 km of riding on this muddy road. There came a fork to the left. This went through a village to the Andra Dam.
Now Andra Dam was a much grander affair than the small Jadhavwadi dam. While the Jadhavwadi Dam's banks were made of rocks and clay, this one boasted
of moden engineering and materials. However, the water levels were still low.We decided to take a break here, as both the riders and their bikes had
had a real mud bath as the pictures will show.

GPS Tag of our location near Andra Dam. Notice the dam is visible on the extreme right of the picture.

That is the kind of roads we were riding for most of the trip.

If you don't ride in the rain, you don't ride.

Final Set of logs and pictures

Chapter 4 : The Journey back through Wadeshwar

The goal was reached. Now it was time to turn back. Back on the muddy road, the route we were to take was through Wadeshwar, Mau and then Join with
              NH4 back towards Pune.

However leaving the fork towards Andra Dam, we continued on the route which we broke off from towards Andra dam. The mushy road lasted for another
10 or so painful kilometres. Then the roads improved a little. It was now a patchy but solid enough stretch of tarmac. The clouds above were threatening
and sure enough for the first time after we left the highway, it started to drizzle. We were now riding besides a very large and majestic mountain.
              It was an awesome sight.

We kept onto the road, now the road had taken a weird form. It was still tarmac, but the road had a significant elevation right in the middle which made
it quite dangerous. Nevertheless we passed it without incident.Until we reached a village on the road. When we asked for Wadeshwar, they told us that we
had missed a turn to Wadeshwar a couple of kilometres back. So we turned around again, and headed back. It had stopped raining now. Some distance ahead,
we saw a turn but the road was all mud. We thought that this was indeed was the turn to Wadeshwar. However, riding was impossible on this road. It was
all pure mud, it didnt take us long to decide that this wasnt the right road.

Not long after the false turn, we found the actual turn to wadeshwar. Now the road was replaced by path to loose rocks. Back to offroading.
Finally, after some offroading, we saw the dam in the distance along with Wadeshwar village in the distance.

Dam near Wadeshwar on GPS. The village is to the left edge of the image.

We saw there wasnt much water here either so we didnt actually visit the dam site either. We headed straight for Wadeshwar. It was a quaint little village
Situated amongst hills, we could see small waterfalls in the distance. We stopped just outside the village for a few pictures.

The road from here headed straight for NH4. It was a really really good road. The weather was really erratic, it would rain for a minute, the next moment
it would be sunny.Really really weird. We did good time, as the road was good and the traffic was little.

Finally, after many hours of isolation from familiar conditions we were back to the road we have frequented oh so often. The journey was almost boring
with its lack of adventure and its predictability.
All of us were hungry, we decided to stop off at one of the road side motels for some lunch and of course looking back at the wonderful adventure we
              had just had.

"The journey was almost boring with its lack of adventure and its predictability."

Yeah ... I think the worst/boring part of the ride was the NH4. BTW , for the next adventure trip , wait till I come back from Del.

I want to be 100% in for such trips.

                P.S. Very good log !
