  • My short weekend trip to Purulia(west bengal) in my Discover125

    Purulia

In the last winter in December'08 I had some planning to go for a short trip. Where to go? after few discussions with my friends I've decided to visit Purulia, 370KMS from Kolkata. It is like the Hill area of south bengal. The main destination is Ayodha Hills.

In a cold morning my Discover hit the road again. Same humming sound of the engine, cold wind, smell of petrol.....ah...ha...I love that things..
50....65....70....75...80 the speed console showing the increasing speed.gr8 man. Taking Vidhyasagar Setu, Kona Expressway and then NH2. This is the road which connect Delhi and Kol. Road is like as smooth as a Runway. Within 2 and a half hrs. we reached Bardhaman(140kms). Get in to a Dhaba, eat Parantha and chai and move ahead. Panagarh, Durgapur passes one after one. We reached Asansol within 11:30am. Took a 10mins break. From here we say good buy to NH2, as the Purulia road is divided from here. Now the road is State Highway, so the narrow road begun. The terrain is UP and DOWN. Traffic increasing. But some how we are running on good average speed. Our plan is to stay in Ayodhya hill top. At around 2:30 we reached Purulia City. After fill up fuel tank we take the road to Ayodhya hills. The rosd is via Purulia -Ranchi Road. After some good road we entered in a non metaled road. The condition of the road was terrible. After crossing Sirkabad the climbing starts. About after 15kms hilly road at last we reached Ayodha Top. Get in a Hotel..took a room... eat lunch....and then went for sight seeing..

Nothing important too see here...one has to enjoy the beauty of the forest, the small pahari jhoras(water falls) and the local Tribal peoples, the santhals, munda, maria etc..

After some gossip in the hotel room and some roti with chicken we go to bed

    everything is peace full here

We woke up at 6. and pack for go to home. Decided to go via Jamshedpur. The distance is 430kms. No prob. Started at 7am. Took first break at Chandil. Cross Jamshedpur at 12noon...this road is gone through forest. great view. Took few minutes break at Ghatshila. Entered Kharagpur at 4:30pm. Its already dark and we are now at NH5 from 3 and half hrs away from home. we have to drive fast. At last at around 8pm we reached our home.
