The straight forward route is from Mumbai to Pune via NH4. Continue to Belgaum (330km) and then ask for route to Amboli. The ghats start within half hour from Belgaum.
U can also take a right near Nipani (on NH4, before Belgaum) and hit Amboli directly by bypassing Belgaum

Ahem! Ahem! Some of my other friends are planning a trip to Amboli - Tarakali - Goa (for a week) and back.... Starting on 14Aug and back by 22nd....

That Plan took a beating due to a long pending visit to Shirdi-triambakeshwar with family...!

And now as if the confusion was not enough... then this plan! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGG!

I will take the Nipani one anyday. After Nipani there will be a six lane expressway ghat section.Cross that & then look for Gadhingle(The spelling is wrong but is very similar). Take the right for Gadhingle. To take right one needs to leave NH-4,take the slip roads & take right from the underpass. This road will automatically takes you to Amboli.

Note:The turn for Gadhingle is very easy to miss.
