  • My P-220's first tour

Took delivery of my P-220 DTS-Fi on the 8th of Aug 2009 at Probiking-Hyderabad. this bike was especially purchased for the IBA run (a seperate thread was posted in Help me section) which me and Prabhakar are planning to do this winter. after the probiking guys finished up the PDI, i & Prabhakar took the bike for a short spin to the open roads outside Hyderabad, prabhakar on his P-220 & i'm on the new 220. after hitting the open roads, i slowly opened up the throttle to 4K and up to 8K in short bursts. its my first ride on a P-220 and i began to feel the stability, superb handling characteristics, and excellent brakes of it. after one and a half hour we returned to Probiking guyz with 66 KM on the odometer, to change the oil. next day (Sunday) we went for a long ride on the NH-7 just to complete the required 500 KM for the first service as the Probiking centre is not available in my place (Rajahmundry). on monday morning (10th) we took the bike for first service at 10 AM, and they finished it up at 8 PM !!, so since morning we both sat at the probiking centre and started to study our route for the IBA through GOOGLE Earth &GOOGLE MAPS. on Tuesday (11th) i started at 7 AM from Hyderabad to Rajahmundry (around 500 KM) greeted by slight rain which slowly increased. i decided to continue a
hoping to go away from the rain, it took me 30 KMS to get rid of the rain. from there the going is smooth and as the bike is in running-in period i didn't cross 70 Km/h and reached suryapet around 10:30, had breakfast and started off again and reached Vijayawada at 2 PM, and it took half an hour to get out of Vijayawada traffic and stopped for a short break outside Vijayawada. at around 3:30 PM the rain started again, i am fully drenched, and since then it went like on/off all the way some 200 KM, and reached Rajahmundry by 6:30 PM.

        nice pics there frank,

        that's why i always Like P220-Fi,b'coz you don't have SVC's everywhere,
so you can do a Smallish (sometimes Big too) Tour, with a reasonable Reason

u may still be the first one to post the trip log of the new P220(DTSi-The fastest Indian )) because my bike is DTS-Fi which was specially ordered as there is no stock of DTS-Fi 's at probiking. i preferred Fi because its the best bike for Touring.

from Hyderabad to Vijayawada its a single lane road with lot of traffic, but from Vijayawada, its the Golden Quadrilateral 4 lane butter smooth highway. but i felt like my hands are tied becoz the bike is in running-in period and i didn't exceed 65 kmph
