  • Bhubaneswar to Goa- possible road map

We 4 of us (as of now its 4- i am not sure how many will actually turn up finally) are eager to travel to Goa in 1st Week of October. It would be really great if fellow xbhpians could guide us on this trip. We are not going to cover the entire distance riding. The possible route maps which we have come across are as follows.

    1. BBSR to Vijaywada by train.Google maps is giving me 3 options for Vijaywada to Goa-

    a. NH63-914 kms- via ongole and bellary
    b. SH30-911kms-Via Hyderabad and Raichur
    c. NH218-962 kms- via Hyderabad again.

    2. BBSR to Hyderabad by train. There are 3 options.

    a.SH60-648 kms-Via Raichur
b.NH218- 691 kms- via Gulbarga Bijapur
    c.NH4a-728 kms - via Solapur.

    3. BBSR to Pune by train. There are 3 options again.
    a.NH4-445 kms Via Satara-Belgaum
    b. NH17-530 kms- via- i guess this route is very close to western ghats.
    c.Pune solapur highway-570 kms.

I would advise you to take Option #3, saves time of riding in the boring plains!

And then from pune take the route thru NH17 (one of my personal fave highways ), Western ghats is awesome in any season.

Personally I'd prefer to ride all upto Goa or anywhere from anywhere.

Still the best options is # 3

From Pune you can take NH4 & ride upto Sankeshwar (20 kms. before Belgaum) n turn right. You'll get a small narrow village road leading you directly to Amboli Ghats (sumthing not to miss this season) & Goa is just 80 kms. from there.
          ENJOY!!!

The road of life twists and turns and no two directions are ever the same. Yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination.

Thanks for the responses spidy and Praful...well we all have taken almost 9 days of leave from our office. So we have close to 5 -6 days which we can spend after we reach GOA. Can you guys suggest some places around GOA which are within 200-300 kms range. My freinds firmly believe that we dont have much to explore in GOA for 5 days. 3 days should be enough.

Goa is bigger than you can imagine. If you have that much time you can explore North-Middle-South Goa...

Goa is multi-faceted it offers everything from beaches/mountains/monuments/religious places....

But I suggest its best if you go with the spirit of Goa....just chill out a relax and explore places.

Option 3# should be teh one to go for...and as mentioned by Spiderweb don't miss AMBOLI...don't forget to stop by and capture teh nature's beaty....

rest about places in GOA...don't plan much if you drink...even i planned a lot but ended spending max of my time in a South Goa beach(Alamhol i guess...pardon my spell) just chilling on the beach gulping pint after pint and enjoying the sea ...

Best of luck guys...GOA SURELY ROCKSSSS!!!

                  P.S : Don't bother about drinking water there...Pint is for a meagre 25 bucks...

Archi, i convinced my co riders to not to opt for sikkim in this weather conditions- rain and landlsides may be creating hindrance. I hope i am correct on this. Others can guide me on this.

Praful and Happybiking- well i guess i can spend housr and days together in and around Goa but my fello co riders are not of the same view point u see.. Since we have close to 9 days of leaves and ppl just dont want to spend in a single place rather they wanna ride and explore simultaneously.

                    Thanks again for the inputs

Ok you can do it like this then....

Start from Pune, ride down to North Goa. Spend three days to chill explore the entire coastline right from Tiracol fort till Dona Paula beach.

Next three days you can spend exploring either South Goa or head even further south and explore Gokarna in Karnataka.

Add another day to return to Pune. So thats 7 days, the other 2 days will be used in travel from bbsr to pune I guess!

@soumen: Alamhol?? I guess you mean Arambol? Thats actually in north goa
