  • Trek to Tadiyandamol (COORG)

This will be more of a photologue than a travelogue. I had done this trek 2 years back and just wanted to share with you all.

    Some info about the place...

Tadiyandamol, 5250 ft high, is the second highest peak in Karnataka. Literally means the 'highest point', this peak is one of the popular trekking spot. Adjacent to Makutta Forest, Tadiyandamol is noted for its coffee plantations. Nalkunadu Palace - A palace built during the 18th century, is at the base of the peak.

The best time to visit the spot is in early winter. Tadiyandamol is 40kms from Madikeri and about 35kms from Virajpet on the way to Bhagamandala and around 300kms from Bangalore.

    Journey Details

Participants: 4 Guys - Myself, Bharath Hebbal, Kaushik, Kencha
    Bikes: RX135, Enticer
Route: Bangalore - Srirangapatna - Hunsur - Virajpet - Tadiyandamol (Total around 600kms)
    Stay: Virajpet

    Journey Begins

    Bangalore - Mysore Highway

You can always expect few encounters through the Jungle (Nagarhole National Park)

Road which you never get bored off

    Typical Monsoon in Coorg

    Chelavara Falls - Virajpet

I thought we risked our lives crossing that water just for the sake of a photo which dint even came out clear.

Misty weather and no human beings around makes it a splendid spot.

    Trek route starts

*Danger* - Bee Hive, just a meter away

    Yes... peek of the peak

Can you see people in-between the trek path

    Amidst trek path

    Still plenty to climb

    Finally on top

    The team

    Dare to be there??

Western Ghats - What a place!!!

And the journey comes to an end....

                      Thanks for the comments guys..

some info for reaching that place...

From Kakkabe you need to head towards Nalkunadu Palace (Raja Mane) and the actual somewhat tarred road ends there and muddy road starts with a steep ascent but you need to continue in the same road for around 2Kms. We took our bike till the base of the peak where the road ends to save time instead walking on road.
There is a water stream, from where the actual trek begins. Anyone can make out the trek path easily. Trek from this point might take around 2.5 to 3hrs depending on pace. The trek is rather easier and I have seen even middle aged ladies doing it... This point of time during the year you can expect some leeches and best thing is to apply Detol on your legs.
