Thank you all.
I had to go Calicut to finish a few Bank formalities of our new Home.
Didnt book the Bus ticket purposefully. Also because of the new timing restriction these days it takes more time like 10-12 hr to reach Calicut.Usually it takes 7-8hr only by bus.Now 9PM to 6AM vehicles not allowed to cross the border. So bus takes different long route.
No better reason to take bike
. Initialy I thouhgt will go on sat morning.
Friday I went to change the front tear which is due change before LEH ride itlself. Bought Ceat 3 inch to 2.75. Felt big more light in front.
After changing the tire I thought why wait for next day more morning.
I started by 2:30 PM. It was raining , put on rain gears. Took only tank bag with CAM a ZOOm lense and couple of dress.
Almost all the drainage was over flowing , in silkboar itself I got water almost near to my knee. Show got completely wet. By the time I reached NICE road end , rain stopped and I was copletely drenched.
Soon hit the mysore highway and I started noticing a sound comming from the engine side. A week back I had taken the bike for serice and Gopi (my mech) had told its time to change timing chain. Almost 55k on odo. I thought its that. Later realized that its the sound from the chain becuse it got dry after those heavy rain.
Riding Solo on a usual track so didnt stop much till Nanjangode. Stopped after that to Pppp and then to take some snaps.Around 6:15 I reached the forest near Bandipur. Its the perfect timing to see some elephants. I was very well aware of that. It become dark and the Crystal vision was doing it duty well... I was zooming in 80's when I saw 4 big legs 50-60mts away. I realized those logs and breaked hard. Followed by a Alto just behind me.
Cars light gave a better view... Ooo... its actaully 8 legs. Not its not a Spider
. There were two elephants on other side standing on the road.
Both had bug tusk touching the ground. But some how they didnt look dangerous to me, was pretty calm so I just rode ahead doing a zig zab between them. I was just wave of tusk away from them.. I didnt look both side, just went ahead and stopped and looked back. Alto was still there waiting for these biggies to move since they didnot had enought space to drive.
Ride till calicut was pretty good , expect the last stretch since it was raining like anything on the ghats. Could not see anything had to keep the visor open . I would have drank 1liter rain water for sure and my stomach know what not. Reached home by 9:30 pm 7hrs - 380km decent timing.
From calicut on sunday I took my fiance for a ride. We though will go to Kakayam Dam. Once we start the ghat section its really nice but sicne it was raining we had to return around 20km before Dam. But found a beautiful place on the way with a lake and beautiful landscape. Spend some time there and retured back home.
Return journey was pretty much boring except Banasura. Not much rain . I took Bansura route since I had to visit a friends home the way back. But for the first time I was distracted by lot of flyies till bangalore. One interesting incident was when a plain crossed the road while landing in new mysore airport.
It was flying so low and I say it just 100mts in front of me. I could see bikers seeing up just above their hear. I think its a mistake they did, it was very very low. Every one stopped and was looking at the runway to see if the plain crashed
Luckiy no
Pics will be up soon...
Yeah its a must do. Very near and good roads too.Originally posted by rossiter View PostSuper trip Rockkyyy. Now that place is in my to-do list.

So much of greenery in your photographs. Some of the shots are wonderful!
The incidents that you recounted of the 8 legs was quite funny. So was the one with the aircraft flying low!The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

To Banasura there are 2 routes from Kalpeta.Originally posted by avinrichards View Postashwin.. man..spectacular shots.. ! the place is sooo beautiful and your photographs have brought them to life..

Bangalore-Mysore-Sulthan-Bathery-Kalpeta is 285km.
From Kalpeta there is a diversion to right towards B.Sagar which is 20km.
Shortest route but route till B.Sagar is not that scenic.
Other route is
From Kalpetta go further till Vythiri another 10-15km.
From here take right towards B.Sagar. This route is full of twisties , very scenic and good roads too. The pics I posted in just before reaching he dam. There is a cut road which you can take and go close to the dam.
