Will definitely meetup. The hotel I was talking about is going for 400 bucks per night. Parking is not covered, but within a walled enclosure with a guard and space is ample. Room was good enough for an overnite stay, but I would book in advance if I were you to avoid last minute rush for searching alternatives. The road where the hotel is located is around 4 kilometers off the NH5, diverting from the Cuttack-Puri chowk.
EDIT: Wise choice of route. You'll know once you hit the marine drive near Vizag and find the good roads
.
A small warning: Lots of diversions from Balasore to Bhadrak, along with ugly road. Cross that early to avoid the dust from the truckers and buses. I hit the front forks of my CBZ lots of time on that patch. Bad roads again once you leave Khurda district and head via Balugaon, go on till Berhampur's edge. Mostly scarred road where you'll be steering a lot. From there, it's a pot-holed, no-road nightmare crossing Icchapuram at the Orissa-Andhra border. Once through, it's the pure awesomeness of GQ.Last edited by diffuser911; 09-24-2009, 07:24 PM.

Hey Gibran,
Good to know about your trip to Bangalore, the city where i grew up, i mean i have lived there for almost 11 yrs starting with my college days. Anyways as Sunil (diffuser) pointed out, i have travelled from Kolkata to BBSr recently and the stretch from Bhadrak to balasore is horrible. Lots of potholes along with heavy trucks makes the journey purely a hell.Yes you are correct its close to 58-60kms you have to bear with that. Be cautious about the humps since u r travelling on R15. FRom Khurda towards Balugaon, the roads are better now compared to last year.As usual you have to take numerous diversions which cuts down on your uniform speed. Scenic beauty is awesome when u r close to Chilika lake. And as Sunil pointed out after Icchhapuram its gonna be awesome.
I have a plan to go to Goa in October during diwali if Sunil can get hold of a bike. Do please let us know your experience after Vijaywada.
And again my room is devoid of any room mates so you can Check in at my place too.
Have a safe journey.

First of all congrats for this whole deed..
I am not in bangalore now (in malaysia rt now).. but i will surely help you finding a good room.. for u... so dont worry abt ur stay in bangalore...
(If i would have been there i would have not let u live else where but in my flat..)...
as far the bungee cord strapping is concerned..u can better take a thick foam like thing put it in a polythene and then tie up to prevent it from rubbing it.. it will be an extra protection )...
before departing for ur journey.. just 2,3 days before have ur bike fully serivced...and get rid of any hicks and nicks..
Happy Journey bro..
will always provide my helping hand whole heartedly..

Hi,
If you take the road through Balasore, you will save a few KM of really bad roads. I do that.
Hotels in Cuttack are somewhat cheaper. If you factor in the traffic confusion there, normally not worth it. However, when returning to Calcutta, I normally night halt in Cuttack, rather than BHB. Allows me to get into Cal by lunchtime.
Regards

Not really. Nowadays they don't stop you until you commit a traffic offense. And even if they do stop you and your papers are in order and you re polite with them they 'll find a lame fault in your bike like number plate is not right or that you dont have part of your headlamp painted in black or such and charge you a 100 buck fine. Basically it's all about that 100 buck fineOriginally posted by bikemanic View Post@OldGearHead will see how things turn out will think about it.

. So kinda be prepared for that, basically be polite with them if you get stopped.
Like kinda give em the feeling that they are in authority and you respect that.
And oh yeah if it is a Saturday night Dont Drink and Ride not even a small beer nothing. If you re stopped and get even a whiff of booze you re in trouble as you re nt locals and negotiating with them on a drink n drive case is best left upto us the locals.
Otherwise welcome to our beautiful garden city. Please post your contact number would love to catch up
