  • Driving onto the lap of Western Ghaats

This was planned from at least 15 days in advance and both the man and the machine were roaring to drive on the most awaited long weekend ahead.
Made sure that the machine would perform to it's capabilities by making some minor adjustments.
So, here are some stastics on the drive:
    Drive ditance: 1127 kms
Fuel gulped by the Bull: 28 ltrs
    Journey duration: 3 days

The plan was finally in place. I had to get up by 4 in the morning and need to check out of home by around 5.The previous day as usual went bad at office with lots of work and at last tried to chuck out by 8 in the night. As soon as I started driving towards home, it started raining cats-n-dogs and all of my arrangements had to be postponed with most of the packing yet to be done.
Finally, managed to reach home by around 9 30 and started packaging everything.

      Day1:
      Driving distance: ~430 kms
Average speed maintained (per GPS): 54.2 kmph
Max speed achieved: (per GPS) 91.2 kmph

Got up by 5 and was set leave. Just when I was about to stop at a tea shop early in the morning for my stock of fags, I found an elderly person who started asking me about where I was heading to. After a conversation which lasted for about 15 mins, he told me that he was a RTMC member and both of us shared our contacts. He promised that he would call me for all the drives he would do with RTMC and I bid a bye to him and started the ride.
The weather was as usual soaring with all slush around the roads. The bull was already dirty even before I left Bangalore.Made my way till Tiptur ( a small town on the way and yeah, the place where I completed my graduation ). Met all the old folks and had a refreshing break for Breakfast and tea after 140 kms of non-stop driving. Met some more bulleteers on the way and learnt that they were also doing the same route.
Just when I was about to leave Tiptur, got a call from one of my Travel Maniac friend who asked about my whereabouts. After the conversation, he told that he would also be joining along with me and asked me to pick him at Bhadravathi ( again on the way). The weather was absolutely beautiful with some good sunlight and yeah some very neat roads till Bhadravathi.

Reached Bhadravathi and picked up my friend and that's when I finally decided that we would drive till Jog. With 12 30 already up on the clocks, we thought of first heading towards Sagar which is ~35 kms away from the mighty Jog falls. Took some breaks along our way after Shimoga where the road conditions were pathetic and finally made it to Sagar at around 2 30.
First things first: Had to book a lodge to stay, did that and dumped the saddlebags in the room, refreshed myself and started to explore some places around sagar.
Talked to some of the locals there and found out that there were some really nice ancient temples to be visited.
Would want to stop here for Day1 and want to make the pics do more of the talking:

Just before I started from home

Somewhere on the way to Sagar

This is the first of the places we visited called Keladi which hosts a historical temple of Sri Ram. Some pics of Keladi temple:
