We were taken to a beautiful suite, done up in royal style, old frescoes running along panels in the walls presenting vistas of the ambience that existed once upon a long time. There was a nice large balcony overlooking a green courtyard.
We had an exquisite biryani for lunch and then we headed for the lotus pool, one of my favourite places in the Mahal, and that also includes the rooftop.
The Lotus Shaped Pool

After a few hours of stay in the Mahal, I realized that when one stays at a place like this, the way one walks, talks, moves, everything changes in tune with the ambience which is a heady mix of erstwhile royalty, a refined hospitality so subtle that you do not even notice it and some really good cuisine. This gets even better in the evening when the local village girls come to the palace to dance to the melodic strains of the desert and I saw my girlfriend join in as well in the party to shake a leg in a shimmering white sari. The draining fatigue of a long ride on a Superbike simply melts away and you get into the groove of living in Royal style! And this got so addictive for us that we decided to prolong our stay by one more day.

Post lunch, met up with Shatrunjay and then began the incessant discussions on engines, motorcycles and cars of the vintage kind. Shatrunjay and his family have begun a series of swank vintage collectibles. You get to see a shiny black 1943 3.5L Jaguar Mk IV, a chrome-grilled 1947 Dodge, amongst other royally treasured objects. Time flies when you are with such eye-popping beauties.
Just have a look at these wonderful creations... they leave you breathless and speechless:

Soon it was time to go have a walk and look around their royal quarters that have been transformed into suites for tourists who can afford such luxuries. We had a look at the amazing Maharaja Suite and the Maharani Suite. I would recommend to all who can afford it, that one should try and spend a night or two in one of these rooms at least once in a lifetime. The beds are done in royal 18th century style, with amazing old frescoes on the walls dating from the 17th century. One can spend hours lazing on the bed and admiring these frescoes.

These guys are motorcycle enthusiasts as well. Barring the beauties that are to be seen above, they also have the Comet GT, a vintage BSA650, and the newer FZ16Shatrunjay taking us on a ride in the Landcruiser on impossible terrain

Ps;Have been meaning to put this up for a while. Lack of time and a relatively fast internet connection had got the better of me. Not anymore. Thanks for reading the article through. Please do not hesitate to post any queries.

Beautiful place and inspiring journey. I will surely look forward to visit the place soon.
