if you want to reach goa at the quickest possible time.take the bombay highway - NH 4 and head to Belgaum, from there it is a left all the way to panji.the other route through, tumkur, honnavar, karvar, is more scenic and takes you through the west cost.the first rooute is faster because roads are much better.

            Blr-Goa

There are multiple routes to reach Goa from Bangalore.

            Bangalore-(NH4)-tumkur-(NH206)-tiptur-birur-shimoga-sagar-honavar-(NH17)karwar- Goa

            Bangalore -(NH4)- Tumkur-chitradurga-hubli-(NH63)- yellapur-ankola-(NH17)-karwar-Goa

Bangalore -(NH4)- Tumkur-chitradurga-hubli-Belgaum- (NH4A)-khanapur-Ponda(can deviate to north or south Goa from here)-Goa

I have driven on all the three routes and i don't see any major difference in the time taken to cover the distance.

the hubli route is shorter and is the route we took last time.but the road conditions were pathetic and slows you down a lot.

Hi...The shortest route from Bangalore to Goa is on the NH-4 from Bangalore uptill Kittur which comes up after Dharwad. From Kittur take a left on to SH-56 to Bidi and then onto SH-93 to Khanapur. At Khanapur you will get NH-4A which is the Belgaum-Goa highway, this will take you onward to Panjim. The SH roads in Karnataka are slightly bad(around 50-60 km's).Nonetheless NH-4 & NH-4A are very good highways to travel on.This route is around 580-600KM approx not more, but features the shortest route and the best roads available!
