  • Hubli pune panchgani mahabaleshwar pune - hubli

Hi! I am Aritro Biswas, 19 years old pursuing automobile engineering from BVBCET, Hubli and a fond biker. Yes that’s about me, let me now share my most memorable and wonderful trip. Here’s my travelogue for a 1500 km ride from HUBLI – PUNE – PANCHGANI – MAHABALESHWAR – PUNE – HUBLI.

I started out on 5th November 2009 at around 3pm from Hubli along with a friend of mine as my pillion rider in my twenty days old wine red p180 which had already cloaked 600kms. We set off with 10L of unleaded fuel in the petrol tank with a backpack on my friends shoulder and a laptop bag across mine resting on the fuel tank with Vega Boolean as my headgear, a jacket and woodland treks as my boot.

Our first break was a little before Belgaum at around 95kms from Hubli. We had some water and within five minute we were back on road, it was 4:15 by the time we actually crossed Belgaum. Riding on for another stretch of 120kms brought us to Kolhapur where in Mc D outlet along side the highway made me stop, we had our evening snacks there and after around 30mins we were enroute to Pune. In another one hour we reached Satara where I refueled my p180 and in the next one hour we were taking the old tunnel to Katraj.
So in exactly four hour and forty five minutes we reached Pune driving at an average 115kms/hr and I must add that the new p180 was as stable as it could be both while cornering and in straight run.

Next in Pune I after dropping my friend to BVP headed to my friends in Viman nagar. Here another five friends of mine joined me in two more bikes one black fazer and another a yellow karizma, than we casually rallied across whole night in Pune with a few stops in Dua’s a local joint etc. By 4 in morning we went back to my friends flat and catched on some sleep.

Next morning at 8 we six hopped on to our bikes with absolutely no luggage other than our riding gears and moved on to NH4 to reach our next destination Panchgani which is another 120kms from Pune, and again in an hour and fifteen we were there in Panchgani and true to its fame we could feel the chill as we kept on ascending the hills, the view was admirable as one can imagine them to be, it was a pleasure driving amongst the hills in such an amazingly cool, chilling windy weather. At very first petrol pump there we refueled our vehicles. Till afternoon we were done with our lunch and all the possible sites in Panchgani driving approximately 30kms within Panchgani visiting various points like Sydney point etc ( check out the pictures taken in Sydney Point,).

Next in our itenery was Mahabaleshwar which is around 40 kms from Panchgani and than we were in Mahabaleshwar by 4 in evening. Again if Panchgani was awesome, this was unsurpassable, it had even more points than Panchgani. By the time we completed a few points it was the time for sunset, so we headed for the sunset point of course we missed the sunset by few minutes. And after sunset the place is as cold as it is dark so seemed we had no options and we went to the market place and booked us a cottage for the night, and than after having our dinner did loads of window shopping except for a map of Mahabaleshwar which we actually bought. Once we had the map, the over excited four amongst us were back in bikes and we started exploring various points and sites like castle point etc in the pitch dark night thanks to the powerful beams of pulsar and karizma. By 1am we were definitely lost although none of us took this to our credit and any how we managed to find ourselves back on the roads we knew, once we were back on known road we wasted no time to go back to the cottage, again to our luck we found a small joint which was open at that point of night and was catering to few people like us and other local guides. Here in this joint we had some hot tea (what a luck!!) and a few puffs of cigarette while we chatted to one of the guides who told us that we must not miss the Wilson point (that’s the sunrise point) at around 5am. Bidding thank you and paying the bill we were finally back to the cottage where all of us told each other we’ll be ready by 4:30am to be on Wilson point although it was already 2:30 by the time we went to sleep. As expected only I and one other could make it in time and were there to witness the beautiful sunrise. Thereafter we along with the rest of us went through the remaining lot of points in Mahbaleshwar. Once done with all the points we refueled the bikes as well as our own selves and than were back on our way to Pune. Enroute to Pune we had a short trip to Wai dam which is just 25kms inside Wai from the NH. By evening we were back in town and once again we were partying all night till 3 in the morning.

The next afternoon after refueling my bike I was back on my journey to Hubli along with the friend whom I dropped in BVP Pune, as my pillion rider. While on my way back I followed the same stretch of road which I came through except that this time I was on the other half of the four lane. I had the same halts as while coming one each in Satara, than in Kolhapur, and last one in Belgaum. It took me almost 40mins more while coming back since I had to encounter heavy rainfall from Wai to almost Satara which made me slow down on that stretch of the road.

So there was I back in Hubli at 7 in the evening on the third day from the begining of my trip.

I hope my account of this trip of mine, the 3 day Travelogue from
    HUBLI – PUNE – PANCHGANI – MAHABALESHWAR – PUNE – HUBLI
in my pulsar180 thrills, enchants you. If it does so, please, please VOTE for me.

Note: Average speed mentioned by me is only while traversing in four laned NH4, please just don’t emulate a ride reading my account, I was well prepared on my part, and if you wish to endure any such rides please be prepared & go through the various tips and must do’s posted in the very own xbhp or like communities. PRACTICE SAFE RIDING.
