    Before the start

My friend Abhi and I started off with plans to do this trip. But due to some personal reasons Abhi couldn't make up. I had informed couple of frens and almost none were sure of making it up (Even I was in dilemma whether I can make it up or not due to some reasons). I was worried a bit bcz this was the peak season and getting accommodation would be a problem and I used to keep telling the same to Ashok. But he used to tell, chill we will get room. Finally we 4 were all set to go .

    Riders -
    Ajith - Honda Unicorn
    Ashok - Honda Stunner
    Santosh - Yamaha Fazer
    Shree - Honda Unicorn

    Day 1 - December 25th 2009

Time 3.45AM, I was all set to leave my place and I sent SMS to Ashok & Ajith saying I am leaving. The scheduled time to meet was @ 4.00AM in Silk Board Junction. Ashok replied me back saying in 15mins he ll be there and Ajith said he has not refueled and he woke up 15mins back
I was there by 4.05 followed by Ashok and Santosh by 4.15AM. We got to meet couple of Bulletiers who were on a ride to Pondicherry and many more places for 6days. Spoke 5-10mins to them and then those guys left. Again called Ajith, he was still at his place. Told him to get empty bottle n start off so that we can take fuel from 1 of the bikes and refuel somewhere near. After few mins Ajith msgd telling he is refuelling. Phew !! And finally he arrives by 5.15AM. Had a small talk for 5 mins and headed towards Salem.
Till Salem the roads were superb. Had fun watching a Civic and City overtaking us "N" number of times. Took a break for photos where we noticed Santosh's bike chain looked like it has never saw oil since decades n was getting rusted.!! Told him to get it oiled further n started.. By 8 we were in some Hotel in Salem. Had bfast and started off to Rameswaram.

We made a mistake following google map, should ve taken the Madurai-Rameswaram route. We spent lot of time asking the way which killed time badly. Thou it killed time, the country roads were decent enough with lots of twists and turns which made riding a great pleasure.
Had lunch in Pudukottai where a tiny Pulka was charged 20rs . Then continued to ride.
Had some photo sessions which Santosh will be sharing. After the last break for photo session, we started thinking not to give any break till Rameswaram but then started mosqutoe rain and drizzling which made visibility very very bad. Ashok was just guessing the there is road and riding darely . Managed to reach the Ramewaram bridge by 7.30Pm and gave a break for 5mins. The breeze was too good. Then went ahead. Now started hunting for lodge. As it was the peak season where ever we ask everywhere the rooms were booked. We had almost lost hopes of getting room and all were tired badly. Finally got room in a lodge with decent parking place as well (the room was reserved from the next day morning so we had to check out by 7AM). We happily took that room (Cost Rs.600/-). All of us freshed up and went for dinner.

Probably the person who took order was the owner of hotel, a big time headweight. They took almost 1 hour to serve and there Ajith took a nap as well Then it was Ajith's turn to trouble the hotel guys to serve fast. His favorite word was "Uncle Uncle".
Then decided the next day wake up time n the day ended.

    Day 2 - December 26th 2009

We were all set by 6AM and went to Agni teertha near temple, we could see the Sunrise but camera didn't ve that luck to capture it due to clouds. Then had nice bfast and then headed towards Dhanushkoti. We all knew that we have to take a left turn to Dhanuskoti but Santosh (probably forgot) went straight. Then we went back searching for him and luckily he was returning. We thought we ll start off from Rameswaram to Kanyakumari by 11AM but only after reaching Dhanushkoti we came to know its impossible.

    About Dhanuskodi

There is road for only 12kms from Rameswaram to Dhanushkoti, this stretch had to be enjoyed most but unfortunately due to unwanted thorny plants grown the stretch seems like u r riding on regular roads. The entire pleasure starts after this 12kms. Around 7kms more left to reach Dhanuskoti which is complete offroading or say filled with sand. You have to ride on sand or board a jeep. We had planned to ride and initially we tried taking the paths of jeep which proved tougher bcz the jeeps returning will not make other way, there ull ve to leave space for them and getting out of path is pain. Me and Ashok started making our own paths n went ahead followed by Ajith n Santosh. Santosh initially struggled but later kept up the phase. We were so happy if we could should the gear to 2nd But later learnt that 2nd gear was the best to keep moving slowly. I had a small fall in sand which didn't damage anything except for slight pain which i got while lifting bike After a small break we continued and reached the place where there was a shop. People there guided us to take the sea shore which was actually a mistake which we did
The water had come on to shore, which was stagnant and stinking. Ashok the brave man tried to go thru that and half of his bike was immersed in it. He was smelling yuck !! That was the worst part. Thank that he didn't get stuck in the lose sand. Then took the sand way rather than shore n reached the destination. Took some photographs, relaxed for sometime n then started. We took almost 75-80mins to cover 7kms and while returning we had learnt enough to cover that distance quickly. We took hardly 20mins while returning. Came to Rameswaram checked tire pressure, gave a small break near the opening bridge and started moving. Again Santosh missed us and he stayed way behind. We sent Ajith to check n bring him back meanwhile Ashok n Me were waiting near a shop eating biscuits.
From there started off thinking we wont reach to Kanyakumari very soon as it was very late. But our calculations were wrong. The roads were like heaven. We could cover an 85kmph on average maintaining 115kmph+ speeds and could get a top speed of 125+kmph. It was like rip baby rip Ashok's speed was limited to 100-110 but still he could maintain within 3-4mins at max. While negotiating a corner Ashok's lost control and was about to crash to footpath but he somehow managed not to crash. After few mins stopped near a fuel pump there saw Santosh's FaJer (this is wat few kids called it) had a puncture. Thanks to tubeless tire, Ashok carried puncture kit so could fix it up very fast n started off towards Tirunelveli. Once we took deviation from 1 highway to another highway Santosh's Nikon DSLR jumped off his bike which he had tied with Bungee cord and it was bouncing on road. Ashok & Ajith were way ahead and Santosh didn't know that it fell off. I was right behind him and a lorry behind me :-o I somehow managed to pick the camera while moving but later got pain in hand bcz i never did such stunts picking fallen object on road at 60+kmph. Gave a camera to Santosh n took a break. There we noticed tat only the filter of lens was broken rest was safe (touchwood). Going ahead reached Tirunelveli (time 5.00PM) and there we asked for Kanyakumari and 1 person said its just 65kms and roads are excellent, we were very much happy but still we wanted to double check n asked someone else and got same reply. Again started rip baby rip. Santosh, Ajith and Me were ripping over 120kmph while a esteem was following us. I slowed down but Ajith and Santosh were still ripping. The female in car was recording that (may be thinking they were racing ). By 5.20PM we were 30kms away from Kanyakumari, took a break again anyway we would not get sunset Then slowly went to Kanyakumari. Again the same problem, no rooms available or if available it was very expensive. First we asked, it was 4000rs then got a room for 2000rs. Here a guy in Santro from Blore was asking about how far we rode, where all we went etc etc, he was very exited (or may be not !! ).. All of us freshed up n went to beach, took some snaps n went to some nutcase hotel . Ajith had to repeat his "Uncle uncle" funda. After dinner went back n slept.

    Day 3 - December 27th 2009

Had plans to leave Kanyakumari immediately after SunRise but then made slight changes n went to beach to see Sunrise @ 5.50AM but again bad luck followed. Clouds were all covered, so we left the beach as there was no point waiting. Had bfast nearby and here again a nutcase who is ready to serve bfast as postpaid connection but coffee/tea as prepaid connection. Once that was done, went for a small ride on coastal side and stopped near a small church. There was absolutely no crowd and the view was simply fabulous. All had good time taking photographs. We left back to room, packed up n started by 9AM. But when we came down, Ashok had a puncture.!! Again thanks to his Tubeless. He fixed it up in a petrol pump n we started off by 9.30AM. The way back from Kanyakumari was great as the roads were fabulous. Gave a small stop just after few mins for photos near windmills. Ashok started playing with his Helmet there. Then headed to Tirunelveli. Ashok thought he can run around 60kms in reserve n neglected to refuel the bike. Just few meters ahead of petrol pump his bike stalled. We all told him to get back n fill fuel but he was back of BP petrol Further roads had nothing for long long distances. After bending his bike, it ran for another 2kms then had to take out petrol from Santosh's bike n put to Ashok's. Then later he filled fuel immediately. Few bridges are still under construction so we had to take a by-pass which was pretty complex. A person there escorted us till we get back to main road. Thanks to him. I had filled fuel in some IOC pump which probably was adulterated n I started getting knocking as soon I touch 7000rpm so sticked to 90's whereas others were ripping ahead n then waiting for me. Ashok felt no point ripping so he accompanied me. A guy in Ford Fiesta asked us, if we are racing? Again Ashok took a big "U" turn to refuel in BP but again the reason he went there didn't workout. Now I had some serious electrical break down. My Osram Nightbreaker, Halonix Spot lamp bulb, Breaklight and Neutral light blew off. Battery was getting disconnected often n letting full power of RR. Left out with Highbeam alone. Had lunch at around 3.30pm in a Daba n started. By 6Pm we had done only 400kms. Now I stopped to check for fuses thinking that might be the cause but all fuses were fine. Ajith, Ashok n Santosh thought to take pics of sunset but this time cops came to disturb as they parked near highway instead of taking service road. They didn't trouble much but didn't get Sunset photo Now it was around 7Pm and we were left with 300 more kms!!! Then we started ripping continuosly. Called Ashok after reaching Salem, he said he is entering Salem yet. We waited for 5-10mins n started. When we reached a Toll Gate near Krishnagiri, road was jammed like hell. Probably the stretch of jam was more than 3kms. We were just cutting thru the cars n trucks wherever we get gap. Finally we were abt to get out of that hell, my saddle bag got stuck to lorry bumper n strap cut off (came to know that after reaching home ). As soon we reached Hosur rain started, we kept on moving. When we were almost close to Silk board Ajith's odo touched 40000kms so gave a break for couple of mins to take snap of his odo Had a small chat n we left.!! That was the end of a small wave trip covering about 1650kms (approx).

PS - This is the first time I am writing a travel blog so kindly adjust with grammar

    Few photos, more coming soon.

I like the fog u r using, which cars? is it a long beam or spread beam like normal car fogs. I want to change my spots for a better spread, now both the spots are like laser beams to poke those truckies A&%$@ to make them dip but less illumination on roads as its too focused
