Just finished reading your log with the snaps. Took a little bit of time to load the page since the number of pics were huge.Truly speaking, it seemed to me a historical chronicle in images, truly magnificent. The painting snaps, the heritage cars, all in all a pleasant read. How was the weather now? I have never been to this part of India. I know how much Ken da appreciates Rajasthan and its scenic beauties here in xbhp. Ride on, and Ride safe.

JAIPUR
HAWA MAHAL

"Palace of Winds" transalation of HAWA MAHAL.HAWA MAHAL was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, and designed by Lal Chand Usta.The main funda of making this fort was to allow royal ladies to peek and observe daily life in the street below without being seen.





It has 5 stories and is constructed of red and pink sandstone, highlighted with white quick lime. The side facing the street outside the palace complex has 953 small windows, and the breeze (hawa) which circulates through these windows gives the palace its name, and keeps it cool even in hot months.








The entrance opens onto a courtyard with a double-storied building on three sides, and one on the eastern wing with three more stories, which is just one room wide.


There are no stairs to reach the upper floors, only ramps.
There is nominal entry fee of 10-15 rs and no charge for Digital camera.

JANTAR MANTAR

There are total 5 Jantar Mantar as far as i know.Others are in Delhi, Ujjain, Mathura and Varanasi. THis pace full of huge masonry instruments of extraordinary precision that can still be used quite efficiently.
The Jantar Mantar was visualized as a quest for ascertaining the mysteries of the Cosmos. The Jantar Mantar found its name from the Sanskrit word 'yantra mantra', which meant 'instruments and formulae'. Built not only to verify astronomical observations but also to kindle interest in science of astronomy, which had been entangled in theory, superstition and religious terminology, Jantar Mantar was built on the basis of an observatory at Samarkand. The huge instruments could determine the position of the equator, latitudes and longitudes on the grounds of the rules of the astronomy. The main instruments stationed at Jaipur are the Samrat Yantra, the Jaiprakash Yantra, Ram Yantra and the 'composite instrument' that included a sundial and an enormous hemisphere on the northern wall.

CITY PALACE

This fort lies in the heart of the old city. Outer wall of the palace was built by Sawai Jai Singh, but other additions are more recent. The palace is a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. The son of the last Maharaja and his family still live in part of the palace.
At the heart of the complex is the seven - tiered Chandra Mahal where erstwhile royal family is still in residence, though only a small part of the apartments are occupied. However, it is only the buildings around Chandra Mahal that are open to the public, and these also form a part of the museum. Through Singh Pol (Lion Gate), visitors can approach the Diwan-i-Khas and Diwan-i-Am, where the maharaja's private and public courts would be held. The architecture seems to consist of a number of arched, pillared halls, while the courtyards with painted doorways are a prominent feature.Cmaera's were not allowed in the Diwan E Khas as well.

Before the palace proper lies the Mubarak Mahal (Welcome Palace), built in late 19th century by Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II as a reception center for visiting dignitaries. It now forms part of the Maharaja Sawai Mansingh II Museum and contains a collection of royal costumes and superb shawls including sanganeri block prints, royal shawls. Kashmiri Pashmina (goat's wool) shawls, folk embroideries and Banaras saris.Photography is not allowed inside.




It was 5:30 PM..What an exhaustive day.Covered so many beautiful and marvelous places.The art which i witnessed in these 7-8 hours of the day,was like got printed in my drumstick memory.I was not in mood to leave that place but raja didn't offered me to stay for the night
I went back to the hotel.Well i checked out, In the morning itself... but kept my stuff out there.I ordered for aevening tea..Sipped it off and started for my Return journey.

Reached Chittaurgarh at 9-10 Pm in the night.The exhaustive coverage of the whole day was not allowing me to move further.So i checked in..in a hoteal for the rest of the night for RS 90 ONLY ..Damn cheap.

DAY 4
CHITTAURGARH TO MUMBAI

Tuesday...26 Jan..in CHittaurgarh.Start of the day with the song "APNI AAZADI KO HUM HRGIZ MITA SAKTE NAHI".Start of the day with my favouraite breakfast "POHA JALEBI"
I will not describe the whole return journey part.Luch breaks,Sutta breaks and many other breaks before i finally reached Mumbai.
No i didn't reached the same day.Infact at 7PM i was at VAPI..and my bike got automatically steered towards Daman.Had some booze and food and checked in...in a hotel at VAPI for the night for 250 INR.
Started in the morning and reached Mumbai at 8:30.Had some rest and rushed to office at 10:00 AM
Another beautiful ride accomplished safely..Though there is much more to explore..which i had left untouched.Someday i will ride again
To the land Land of a people who are brave and chivalrous, people with a warlike lifestyle around whom grew the most amazing legends of romance and heroism.
To the land of superlatives where everything is breathtakingly beautiful, impressive and fascinating.
To the land which is packed with history, art and culture that goes back several centuries.
To the land where the past still lives on with its glory.
With all these words i conclude my 4 Days travelouge to MAJESTIC RAJASHTAN.
