09-Feb-2010,Day-2

Woke up at 5:30 A.M. No soap in bathroom didnt noticed it in night as was tired,wet and shivering with cold so wrung the wet clothes and hanged them up in the whole room like on towerbolts,handels,etc as there was no hangers or hooks.Slept in undergarments,now had to take soap from reception so first peeped out of door that if there is no one then I can go in such position out in corridor of hotel.The way was clear(just the way like james bond) so I zipped fast to reception counter and asked the drowsy attendant for soap;seeing me like this he was fully awake and gave me soap.Then again I was 'Usain Bolt' so no one can get fully awake like the attendant.Got fresh and was ready to ride that Legend scooter....I mean my baby again.



The room was below average but was ok for 300 Rs. to take hide from rain.

At 6:45 A.M. I head out of hotel and again it was raining mildly.The hotel guy told me that it was raining for whole night so I thought that it was waste of time to stop and wait.Hey rain, here I come again.

Third Century of my baby



From Kalka the rain game started again.So stopped at a small dhaba before refueling my baby second time,I refueled myself with one coffee and two aloo pyaz paranthas.


The baby was pretty dirty till now;who can say I bought it yesterday evening

Then fed up my baby and moved on.Till 10 Kms.before Solan(mid point of Chandigarh-Shimla) I found decent drizzle but after that I think so God started testing my enduro.I started hearing noise of tad-tad like somebody is throwing tiny pebbels on me,it was actually graupels (tiny ice balls,in hindi we call them ole but they are a bit big)but I kept on moving because there was no tree to get a shed only big naked chattans.Suddenly I felt supercool on my thighs and when I looked down I was surprised,the graupels had collected in good amount in between the area of my thighs and tank,thus making me freeze.It was looking like snow was kept on my thighs.So I quickly stopped and shed off them.Now I really want some shelter but I was stuck in area of no sheds so the only alternative was to move on either back or ahead.So I moved ahead as back till 3 kms. was nothing I came seeing.In valley sometimes in panic situation 3kms. also looks like a big shot.After traversing 2 kms.I found some trucks standing and there was shelter too so halt there.

The truck drivers were warming them up by sitting around fire they ignited in woods so do I.I took off the gloves and inserted my bare hands in fire,looking at my dancing body with cold they made space for me to sit down.They were making dal-chawal and offered me too but I refused politely as it was limited quantity for them.They started talking how one scorpio overtook them here and lost control due to rain and snow.Then they start talking how fools run on roads and get indulge in accident and give trouble to them too.I was listening to them and was realizing that sometimes I too do that zig zag and scary type of stuff on road.So its not that like always a truckdrivers are wrong but atleast 60% of others are also wrong during a accident.Moreover they had to control such a bulky truck which is not easier either.So before overtaking a truck judge all the possibilities he can do.He also wants to complete his journey,he is not the killer on the road.

So I inquired about the weather from them and they told better stop at the earliest point because its too bad for last two days.But I decided to go up (means shimla not heaven) no matter what it takes because I promised my baby to show her snow "Aur ek bar maine commitment kar diya,to phir main khud ki bhi nahi sunta" this dialouge actually suits the situation(I was fully drenched,shivering with cold,snow was falling,wet slippery risky road and aching body due to supersporty posture),Salman khan phaltu main mere dialouge churata hai yaar.

At last my decision gave me some fruit.I was welcomed in Solan valley by Fresh Snow on road



Now lets learn how snow actually forms!

These tiny iceballs are called Graupels (in hindi called 'oley' but generally they are bigger in size),they shower with rain.



Then they get collected as showering is heavy.



And forms fresh snow. Awesome



These graupels were very similar to one eating stuff known as 'sabudana'. After crossing Solan, rain god took some rest and I was at my best;in leaning my baby at the curves.While on the go I was forced to stop by a Scenic Panorama
and now it was time to shoot by my SLR....I mean to shoot pics from my D-SLR Camera not the self loading rifels

By the time I reached Shimla it was already 3:30 PM and I was tired due to rain for initial 6 hours and new riding posture for my baby,so gave a thought that instead of finding hotel with safe parking lets head to one of the luxurious hotel of Shimla which is generally provided to me during Raid-De-Himalaya.

As in raid many special cars and bikes comes and are safe in that hotel so why to search other for my baby.


Hotel HHH but dont expect Triple H(wrestler) in it.




Parked the bike in the hotel Safe parking,got 20% discount as it was off season.Took keys from reception and was in room for rest directly.Called up laundry for drying my jeans and ironing it.Hanged up jacket infront of heater,spread other clothes on bed and took a Hot relaxing and refreshing bath.I was feeling heaven when the hot water showered on my semi frozen body.Got in bed,set timer in mobile for 3 hrs.and took a nap.

Trrrrrrr. got up at 7:30 PM got inside clothes and took slr outside and began to shoot tad..tad..tad

As I came out in parking,weather gave me a little surprise.

There was a snow fall.

It was pretty cold out here and thank god no rain.My Monte Carlo Pullover was struggling hard to keep me warm.While I was taking pics of my baby,one of the staff member of hotel came to me and began to ask about the bike.When I was describing about bike he suddenly asked "Did you ever came in Raid-De-Himalaya? Had long hairs?" I replied yes.Then he said that he recognised me and I have become more healthy(bole to wo bolna chah raha tha 'MOTA') and used to do hungamas and all and that particular raunchy language I used.I stopped him and asked are you prasing me or criticizing
He laughed and welcomed me and gone.

Entered Mall Road and first of all tried to find a rain suit as it was getting difficult for me riding in rains and that also in mountains.I had to ride more upwards tommorow so better take one instead of waiting for any bad incident.But it was already 8:15 P.M and all lower bazar was getting closed due to no power supply.Lower Bazar is market in shimla where you can get good cheap deal if you are a good bargainer.It is lower than Mall Road so called Lower Bazar.

Now the market was closing so tried on Mall Road only, which is much expensive than Lower Bazar.Hard Luck,had to satisfy with umbrella only.Atleast in heavy rains I can stand any where on the side of the road and get myself safe.

Now I was hungry too,didnt wanna have proper dinner.So stood up at a bakery and again I gooooo

Started with one Maggi soup,One Sandwich,One Choclate Cream Roll,One Veg Patty,One Strawberry Pastry,One Plate of Veg Momos ended with fresh Apple Juice especially made in Himachal.
And yes this time also I was alone

But still it was chilly out there and my bare hands started freezing so I took lift(It was the last lift to go,I think the lifts are closed by 9:30 P.M or so) and walked down to my Hotel.By the time I was walking I got a call from my cousin from USA had a chat with her and she asked for something to bring from USA as she was coming here so I got in Cyber Cafe of hotel and e-mailed her about the Kawasaki Jacket matching with my baby.

It was around 10:40 P.M , I was going to room from cyber cafe through lobby,I was called at reception and was told to sign on voucher as I have been given 10% additional discount.That was great,I didnt even asked why, just signed it fast so that they may not change their mind.May be the guy recognised me was the reason of discount or whatever I was happy with this kinda hospitality.

As I entered in room and felt the warmth of heater,I left on.

10-Feb-2010,Day-3

Had a sound sleep,got up late at 9:10 A.M.Read newspaper and acknowledged about the status around Shimla.Was planning to go to Narkanda-about 60 Kms. from Shimla.It is a beautiful place to get feel of snow ,view of snowy peaks & skiing(I love it) but due to heavy snow fall the route was closed.So decided to round up till Kufri.What is it?

Took bath,cleaned my crown and shoes.Packed up Bag,gave inspective look to room that I had packed only my stuff and nothing is missing which belongs to room and was ready to ride again.

The overall experience with Hotel was great.Finalized this hotel as my permanent one whenever I'll be in Shimla.Checked Out at 11:45 A.M. I was late because I had to reach back Delhi also.Anyways..

FREEZE Ninja! You are surrounded by snow





Till this place only four wheelers and buses were able to move,two wheels were invisible long way back.But I want something more and suddenly a guy came to me and said "Saab Ghoda hai",I understood what he wanna say but in my typical way I replied pointing towards my baby "Na,na..Ye hara gadha hai,MP k junglon mai milta hai,taange tut gayi thi so chake laga diye do." Then he said kyon mazak karte ho saab,mera matlab ghoda karne ka hai.Gadi isse uppar nahi jayegi.Then I just asked him the way where he was taking upto and as he told me,I just headed on that way saying"ye hara tota bahut unchi udaan bharta hai"

Now when I rode on that way every one either was walking or riding horse was staring at me and my baby because it was the only automobile which was going up there.Couple of guys yelled 'hey look its a bike,no its superbike,no its baby NINJA' and I shouted-'BINGO' toinggg.

Generally the honeymoon couples were there and when the fairer sex gives me a look,instantly their counterpart shouts "Hey look what a beautiful mountain or tree or scene or horsy"pointing in the direction opposite to me and I just grin inside my crown and murmur 'you moron she won't look anywhere else because right now she is admiring A GREEN PARROT, You better thank god that she is still listening to you.'

Then came a point where horses were also halted and no one was going up.I was too asked to park my bike there and get the view of the place but I didn't.The localites said there is nothing up there and its risky thats why no one is going there.And I said I can go offroad too but there is still a road that means it is for some one to go and I am that someone ,as for me it is like 'When the going gets tough,The tough get going' and so do I.

First it was black ice on the road,then patches of snow on the road but now the patches of road was in the snow.My rear wheel started spinning but with the help of my two legs and a combo of gentle twist of wrist and clutch release gradually I got up there where no one was around.Now its just me and my babe and outstanding place.

While I was trying I saw a two guys were approaching me.They asked about bike and told that they had came here first time and had stopped where every one else did but dared when saw me flying up with the bike.

Now going solo is the best thing for me but the only thing I hate is I can never be with my babe in a frame,so these guys favoured me by my mobile camera.

Both of them returned saying that no one is up there so its better to be back but I moved up saying I'll move ahead because no one is up there

My wish was having a roohafza bottel here and eat some really fresh chuski but never mind will come again after all this place is in India only.Now it was time to move back as it was very late for going to Delhi.

But the biggest test was now,I came up anyhow but now it was a steep slope downwards of snow and frozen ice.

One sher was coming in mind,perfect for situation-'Khud hi ko kar buland itna,ki chada ho jaise taise; Khud hi ko kar buland itna ki chada ho jaise taiseee...Ab baby puch rahi hai bhutni k utrega kaise.'

One foot on break pedal the other supporting through land.One hand on break lever the other one was the hold tight hand.Rolling at the speed of snail because I don't even had frame sliders.I wish I could have the shoes of Thakur Saahab in 'Sholay',you see it have got nails in its sole which would have gave me a good anti-skidding power on Snow

While I was busy in admiring the natural beauty through camera,I heard a middle-aged lady talking on mobile-"ya its very chilly here and since from morning we had 6 pegs of rum and 2 pegs of whisky but still now we are struggling with cold......". I just thought that how soft human has made himself/herself.Means I was standing there with only a glass of water in my stomach since from morning and was in high spirits and these guys are like......feeling hot turn on AC,feeling cold lets have peg.....come-on guys we have got the greatest gift from God - 'Human Body' which is capable of doing many things and moreover a brain to control it but what we do instead of surviving from brain,we just surrender our body.Will give Lecture some other time,right now just enjoy the honeymoon.

So there was a Honeymoon couple who asked me to take their pic from their camera and I dealed the same in return.When the guy came to know that my baby is just two days old,he asked me shockingly-how can I brought a new bike at such a place?Don't I love my bike?
Instead of answering his question,I just asked him one thing "If you can bring your new wife to such a place then why can't I?" Both of them passed a smile and said-It seems you are in love.

From a tunnel comes in between the common road back to Shimla was closed due to some reason so had to go the other way round.Enjoyed numerous twisty at sixty but now the intestine inside were also twisting due to only a glass of water since from morning so stopped approx. 7 kms before Solan.
Had a Sarson ka saag,Makke di roti,a coffee with pyaz and mirchi k pakode and goodbye because it was already 4:30 P.M. and wanna reach Delhi as still I can't go beyond 60 KPH.

Stopped at Karnal to meet one 60+ Goyal Uncle.We became friends in 2006 Oct. at 4:30 A.M. Actually I was going to Shimla from Delhi for Raid-de-Himalaya and stopped the bike for general check up in morning 4:30 before some police chowk at Karnal By-pass.This Goyal uncle was owning some hospital nearby on by-pass so he was doing his morning walk there.Seeing my bike fully loaded he stopped and start interrogating me(must be thinking I am a crook and taking the stuff I had stolen on bikethats why the bike is looking so bulky).When I clarified every thing we became friends and he invited me for morning tea to his home in hospital itself.I gently promised him to meet him while in return as I had to reach to shimla by 7A.M. for scrutiny so was in hurry.From that time whenever I am on that way,I always try to meeet him.This how I keep in touch with my friends all over India.

He was glad to see new bike and the pics.Tried to convince me for dinner and stay at their home for night but had to leave because I wanna get my baby for its first service in morning.So had a cup of coffee and a apple with his sweet family and Good Bye.

11-Feb-2010,Day-4

Atlast one phase of break-in was over




Reached Delhi and was so delighted as I revved her beyond 4k RPM.Her sound also changed from legend scooter to vrooom.I was feeling like I am going to take off till 6K RPM but couldn't fly because had to pass the second phase of break-in.So with only some take off reached Atta-Noida at my friend Ankit's room.
In between at ring road two skinny guys on a Pulsar 200 were riding and as soon they saw me the rider began vrooming up and so.I thought that he is from delhi so atleast must be knowing about bike but no he was continuously provoking me,so I press the clutch,gave the rev,shifted the gear down,crouched down and released the clutch.VRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM...........ahea d.. more ahead... that idiot goes and I was set free to ride at 85 again

In noida, Ankit is thinking what the hell I'm gonna do with this green parrot




Explained Ankit about bike and journey and around 3:30 A.M went to Sleep tight due to riding for last 14 hrs. that also in totally different and tiring position.
At 8 A.M called to Mr.Bijender(Service Advisor appointed for ninja) and confirmed for service today and left for Kirti Nagar Probiking Service Center by 10 A.M. Reached there by 11:15 A.M as the traffic was at its peak at DND flyover merging to ring road.
Mr.Bijender welcomed me and asked for the booklet of my baby.While filling up the form he pointed towards my temporary number and asked why I haven't took the permanent No. yet.When I told him that it has been only two days I picked up my baby;he was shocked.
Ek sher arz kiya hai is situation par-'Vo kabhi mere meter ko dekhte hai to kabhi humain.Vo kabhi meri bike ki halat ko dekhte hai to kabhi humain.... Or phir sochte hai kahan-kahan se pagal chale aate hain.'

It was only 850 kms. at time of first service. Mr.Sachin Jain (Asst.Mgr. Service)greeted me and commented that he have not seen such a dirty ninja till now and I replied she is my baby,naughty like me and loves getting dirty.So expect many new and unique incidents you are going to explore with my baby only.

The entire staff was good,like the guy cleaning & polishing above, was doing like it was his ninja. Mr Sachin & Mr.Daya Ram were very helpful in explaining the tech. and how to maintain. All queries were sorted out.The bill was of Rs.1352. Service of ninja is done on hour basis,some kinda like 350 Rs./Hr.
Mr.Sachin humourously said that if my baby had not been so dirty then the bill can be of lesser amt. because it took 35-40 min. for service and more than a hour for cleaning.Anyways thanks guys and goodbye.

Naraina was close from there so went to KRP for Tankpad got it for 900 Rs. But unlike on other bikes for just as a beauty enhancer, it was necessary due to its sporty riding posture.Ordered for Frame sliders too.

Still 740 kms.remaining to terminate break-in so thought instead of heading Agra directly,better go via Jaipur.But it was 5 P.M and I was feeling very tired because of new sporty riding posture and moreover slept for only 4 Hrs. in last 32 Hrs. So decided better take a nap at Ankit's room instead of taking risk of riding drowsy.
In the way back to noida met with Ravi Bhai(Delhi guys must be knowing Ravi Dalal) at his office, Bhikaji.He was excited seeing the surprise.Had some snacks with him and reached at room by 8 P.M.

Thought for 5 Hrs. and leave at 1 A.M but didn't woke up till 5 in morning.Then left at 6 A.M. and didn't stopped anywhere till Agra via Jaipur except at Gas station in Jaipur.

Reached home at 1 P.M. and as my mom had seen green coloured bike first time ,with a smile(coz,I again returned home)she said -bewakoof! or koi rang nahi mila tha.Hara tota utha laya hai.Parked the bike,took bath,rest and back to work.In night father glanced at her and was happy that atlast he(me) got the big one and is not going to love again. But who knows......Dil to baccha hai ji


Again while returning I met with mild rain and wet roads thus made her nasty again

Called up friends and gave them surprise because hadn't told any one since I booked.One of them asked in joking way-arey ye tota kyon le aaye bhai, ye kya karega ab? And I replied-"Ye tota jab udta hai na...to ache-achon k Tote udaa deta hai".Called up Arun(one of the best & oldest{not in age}pal) and said I wanna show you some thing come to my place.He came and I showed my new Green Crown,he liked it and asked about the price so told him that it costed me 3 lac.He was like..What.I said I got one thing free with this and showed him the hidden treasure and now he again was like and gone mad.

Still 173 kms.pending so tried to do it as soon as I can but in city it took me three more days.
While I was in city doing her break-in I stopped at a closed railway crossing near a pan khoka and suddenly people standing there started shouting-'Abey! dekh ye nayi wari karizma hegi mukhota wari' and I started laughing loudly and said -'ban gaya na mamu, abe ye platina hai,modify karai hai'.Then they started to stare at it and said- 'kyon maze le rahe ho bhai, ye ninja likha to hai' and I said-'badi jaldi PhD karli yaar tumne,kya baat hai padhna bhi aagaya'.Like this I encountered many.
One said after knowing price- 'Kya fayda itni mehngi bike lene ka? Itne mai to ek gadi aajati,kum se kum char log to baith te' To which I replied-'bade bewakoof ho tum bhai saahab.Itni mehngi gaadi leke kya achar daloge? Itne mai to ek tempu aajayega.Jab chahe to ghar walon ko bithao,warna khali samay mai savari bitha k paise kamao' Then he did one right thing.... Shut his mouth
