My soul was cribbing for a long ride since the day I had the thought of owning a bull ( I prefer to call it Osiris). Finally got hold of the Osiris and the intensity to take it for a ride started growing intense day by day, only controlled by the lack of time. A small trip was made to mahabalipuram to calm my senses which ended up in 3-4 trips to mahabalipuram in a week. Once to just sip a cup of tea/coffee at anand-bhavan with wifey. Finally got some days and decided to run away to pondicherry.
Prep-day: Got the bike serviced. New air filter / tightened brakes / engine oil changed.
Day 0 | The silence before the storm: The head-light of Osiris isn't enough to light up the planet of the mortals so had to get it changed. The rear-view mirrors were loose so had to get them changed too. Went to GP road and got a new head-lamp and Enticer's mirrors. Also got the pillion back-rest. The Osiris roared, ready to unleash the fury.
Day 1 | Unleashing the fury: Decided to leave house by 5-5:30 am to catch some sunrise shots on the way to mahabalipuram. Ended up leaving at 6. No good, I can already see the sun on my head. Still had to tie luggage, took around 10 minutes to finally tie-up the bag and kick start the Osiris to life. The traffic has already taken up the road, had to hover at around 50 / 60 KMPHs. Crossed "Pitstop" and ripped in 80s for some time before stopping and taking some snaps. Found two people trying to outrace the Osiris on an apache, I was full throttle at 105 Ks, not really racing but wifey confused it with a race. I was just testing the ma throttle of the beast that Osiris is. Afterall an Apache could have outraced Osiris (AFAIK). Reached mahabalipuram at 7:30 am and found that a strap of bag was left loose and the plastic had melted on the silencer. Cleaned the plastic with some tissue papers adn tightened the strap. Had a tea, wifey bought a coffee. Took some pics of Osiris to construct a HDR pic. Asked wifey to sit atop Osiris and got ready to shoot a snap. Found out that the battery died. LOLed hard at wifey
. Bought new batteries and went to get some snaps of shore temple. (Had never visited it even once in the trips I made to mahabalipuram)
Started journey to pondicherry at 8:30. I know its late - 1 hour stoppage for just 40 Kms; but then, we weren't running through.
The journey started on unknown territorries, the beautiful curves of the road. The roads are covered with trees on both sides creating a beautiful view. Osiris is cruising easily in 90s for 20 Kms or so when wifey starts getting bored and her ears start to pain. I slow down the cruise speed to 60-65. Stopped at a few places to get some snaps. The day was getting hotter and I was sweating was too much. Asked perission from wifey to make Osiris run again - Permission granted. Osiris was again ripping at top-speed
Reached pondy, and stopped at hotel surguru. Found out that the morons don't have a room even when they said they have a room booked for me. I even asked them if I can make some payment but they said it wasn't needed and this moment I'm standing in the scorching heat with no roof on my head. Thought of visiting "Big bazaar" to bring back the senses to life, but discovered that "big bazaar" is actually a big bazaar, not the one by future group. Frustated by heat and lack of roof, decide to have some lunch. Just before entering the restaurent, found a hotel where a room will be checked out at 1:30 pm. It was just 11 am so will have to wait for some more time. Paid him some amount and booked the room, had lunch and started wandering around to consume time. Finally got the room at 2 pm.
Went to Auroville in evening, a welcome break from the common world. Rest later...
