Day 1
Day 2
Day 3

Prologue :
Roomies: Dude its already April and you planning to go to Pondicherry that too via Chennai

Me : As per the weather forecast mercury would rise max upto 35 degrees and I having spent 4 years in bhubaneshwar(where mercury levels used to hit a crazy ~38-40 degrees in prime summer) shouldn't be in that bad a state. Moreover at this part of country its quite humid which means sweat and if I am riding at decent speeds the air would cool up the body. Makes sense??

Roomies : WTF

Me : Whatever

Thats how the discussions went before we dozed off thursday night.
Photo-Log :
Day 1 : I woke up sharp at 4:30AM with rest of my roomies in deep slumber. Quickly ran through the usual chores & hurried to the parking lot and cranked up the bike. Left it that way for around 5-6 minutes to get to proper life. Couple of my roomies woke to the sound of the bike and came out to wish me luck. At around 5:10AM saddled up and started rolling. Initially I took it easy on the bike and maintained 40-60kph range for next 15 mins and voila!!! I was already past Electronic city limits. It was still dark and with the 35W bulb I didn't wanna go for any heroics. Hence, kept rolling at 65-75kph max. At that hour with relatively less traffic the sound of wind whistling by was music to my ears. Reached krishnagiri(70kms) in 65 minutes flat.

Pulled over for morning tea. Now, another thing that I noticed on this trip was that tamil-nadu people have started speaking hindi.Funny part was I was trying to explain him in signs that I want a cup of tea when he bowled me over saying : Chai chahiye?? I was like ...WTF

Butter smooth high-way...

Thereafter I resumed the ride on the butter-smooth highway...The roads are so good that you cant help but RIP...Kept cruising at gud speeds of 80-90kph and short bursts till 120kph max. Reached vellore around 9:30AM and called up Sriram(a xBhpian friend) who had agreed to guide me through chennai to ECR.Sri-Perambudur came in no time and I couldn't help but take a U-Turn to check out the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial. Lots' changed in last 15 years(yeah!!! I was here 15 years ago with parents).

The assasination point...

Reached chennai around 11AM. Sriram arrived and soon we were tackling the chennai traffic. Now to be honest I didn't find chennai as bad as people out here keep saying. I found it a well-laid city with wide enough roads. Atleast way better than Bangalore. We were on ECR in about 35 mins and I could feel the cool sea-breeze right away...Yippee!!! finally on the ECR. We pulled over at a dhaba for lunch where we had an hour long chat on bikes, work, traffic cops,Pune, bangalore, hyderabad and what not

Why so serious buddy

Bidding him farewell we headed in opposite directions. Soon I reached Mahabalipuram. Now this town was really HOT!!! I was dying to get out of my jacket. Payed a visit to shore temple but was dissapointed to see it was under renovation and the rest of the places too like Five Pagodas and all dissapointed me.

Another way to drain in some foreign exchange

With a heavy heart I left the city and headed towards my final destination of the day. By dusk reached Pondicherry and was greeted by crazy traffic . After 12-13 hours of ride that was not exactly something I would have liked but the meagre thought of beach nd beer kept me going.

Along ECR

Finally I reach Pondi

Finding my hotel was not an issue coz it was at a prime location. Got my keys and retired to the bed for some rest to the butt

Beautifully lit beach-way!!!

Some friends from bangalore...

Around 10PM I headed to a bar nearby where I met another bunch of bangloreans and we enjoyed beer . Finally around 11:45PM we bid farewell to each other and I headed to my hotel on a auto.Hitting the bed right away is what the doctor ordered for and I was deep into slumber in no time.
Had a long day ahead as lot more places awaited me.What a wonderful day it had been.Meeting new people, visiting some nice places on the way and ofcourse beer & beach. A perfect way to start a weekend.Wish I got more of these often
