  • bang-bypass (pune-mumbai-ahmedbad) -delhi stretch. Need info guys!!

    Hi guys,

am planning on a trip to delhi from bangalore on 1 of the coming weekends. have done bang-pune stretch so quite aware of the stretch but what worries me is when I cross pune. I have no idea whatsoever on how to bypass mumbai and go ahead. Although, google maps is always there but ground '0' is altogether different.

True that I can peruse through all the different threads to search for the route but the answer upfront is always sweet and short and better obviously

Can someone point me on how to bypass mumbai city.

The state of the roads following mumbai.

I recently completed the IBA challenge and rode uptill himmatnagar (just 70 km short of a'bad) from delhi.

The highways are awesome and the bike feels like butter on a hot pan. However, do remember to take the "by passes" if you want to be quick on the odo and want to avoid the maddening city traffic.

Make sure you take the NH 79 instead of NH8 from Udaipur. Keep on asking for Bhilwara and you would be directed to...

once you hit GVK...thats your heaven...

worry not, m sure you'll be "tripling" the figures!

Congrats on your success dude. I have been through your logs earlier. posting a map of the jaipur-himmatnagar route but I got confused as NH9 seems to go the other way..can you break down into steps the routes you took? Will be awesome for me cos I know your were in a hurry during that time so the route would have to be good too

Mumbai byepass will be NH4 - Gorbunder road- out of Mumbai. Road till Vadodhara from there is good, then you have to take the busy road from there to Ahmedabad since bikes are not allowed on the expressway. From Ahmedabad-Naroda-Udaipur, the roads are great. When you hit Udaipur, take the Chittaurgarh road (NH76 then NH79) instead of NH8, - the roads are much better. Then the road will join NH8 near Ajmer. From there on, it is straight upto Gurgaon via Jaipur.

The roads are good overall, and Jaipur Delhi will be busy.

Pm me in case you need to know more.

What a trip it was. Started at around 3 PM from office after packing all the necessary stuff in a tankbag and a shoulder bag..tankbag had all the necessary glucose and medicines with clothes et al...the shoulder bag had the chain cleaner/lube with the temporary stand..didnt wanna put too much pressure on the tank..as it is she has a slight dent on the left..got no clue as to how..

getting back to the core..reached the NICE entry point and searched around for an ATM for the timestamp...was I nervous!! plus the heat..but the damn ATMs around there..none would provide me with location entry as Bangalore so hopped around to the latest petrol bunk...

4:44 PM bangalore...the clock had started ticking

Raced to the NICE entry point...gave it a real rip cos I knew it was just the NICE road where I am going to get good roads..once the corridor finishes, ill be faced with a hell lot of muck..time passed by like a flash..

8:10 PM chitradurga..my first refuel session..I had no idea whether I was on time or falling back with the schedule..as it was the first time attempting saddlesore..I was really nervous so called up my roomie in bangalore...things seemed to be going OK...With the refueling done I was kind of relaxed as well as restless cos I knew the bad stretch in the NH4 started 25kms before Davangere and extends till Haveri...plus it was getting real dark..but my baby was performing so well that I just did'nt care...bad stretch or good stretch..she was ready to fly. Man!! Does this bike inspire confidence...(not just mine..the R15 in general)....anyways..she went on....smooth and fast...luckily there was lot of traffic during the night in that stretch so in a way it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as potholes were clearly visible, though the DIVERSION 50 metres AHEAD markers were still there..

Ill continue with the rest after scanning the fuel bunk receipts for authenticity....
