The idea of this journey starts in the month of as far as i remember feb 2009, than we make lots of plan and discussion here for several days .but than whole plan was cancelled bad luck because abhi bike got stolen so we have to cancel our trip .than i alone made the plan and move on alone on my bike to leh ladakh on 2nd june 2009 completed and return back .but than once again in august my keeda start to cover lahaul spiti .than i made plans and again discuss here on bcmt to how to go on bike or bus and all this and that,than one day whan my plan was set to go lahaul spiti on bike i told my plan to abhi, after listening my plan, he ask me to postpone ur plan for some days as he is planning to buy second hand bike from some guy and wants to do the trip with me . i agreed and waited fo some more days because it is better late than never so in the end our trip was started on 16th august from calcutta.abhi starts from calcutta on 16th august 2009 and joined me in panipat on 19th august 2009 in between way his bike engine seizes and he faces lots of difficulties with the bike and thanx god he reached panipat and we both start our journey on 19th around 5 pm .

we start from panipat at around 5 pm.i want to touch hills at least but abhi bike has new engine so we stop in between on every 1 hour .so with enough breaks we reached ambala around 9 pm with kota full



we took 5 bottles of rum because of abhi . but i swear we dont drink in between way.so we reached ambala at 9 pm abhi wants to take rest so we find one hotel near bus stand and retires for the day in ambala ,good hotel it was 400 rs room with nice garden .





after taking bath and drink session we went out for having dinner at good looking restaurent and ordered butter chicken but what a butter chicken those people give us tandoori chicken dipped in red curry mixed with red sause nice start we have.abhi took picture of that reastaurent so everyone can avoid that restro. come back and sleep.end of day 1.

A Spiti-Leh combined! Keep them coming, Deep.

P.S.: On the first post, I was shocked to see Barlachala free of snow and the route map covering Lhosar and Chotta Dhara. And then, in the next post, I noted the date as Aug '09.

DAY 2 20 AUGUST 2009

Woke up early and get freshed around 8 am we are ready to start.some pictures taken in moning

crossed kalka easily no big jam around 11 am we were at mc donalds near dharampur take breakfast abhi had chicken nuggets and i take 2 pizza mcpuffs there and again ready to start soon giani dhabha comes i stop for luch again but abhi dont want to eat more as he eats less during travelling so i also skips he bhagwaan mera kya hoga.reached solan abhi wants to do service of his bike so do the service and than he felt there is some problem in the shocker of the bike also, both shockers the mechanic says it will take2 or 3 hours to repair so we gave his bike to mechanic and put all our luggage in his shop and we left for some lunch its hot in solan so we took the road which is going to barog nice road that was all greenery, my idea is to reach giani again but we found one dhabha and beer shop in barog so we stopped abhi bought one beer only one guys and we both have it half half on sitting on the side of road enjoying cool atmosphere. than i go to the dhabha i dont like it so we again skips the lunch and start to solan bike was ready by that time we took the bike now service done shocker ok we again start from solan around 3 pm .now i starts feeling really hungry after solan i saw one road side rehri selling kulcha cholle and tikkis .we stop there and i have kulcha cholle and abhi have tikki after tasty snacks now time to hit narkanda atleast.crossed shimla easily around 7 pm we were at narkanda .nice road from shimla to narkanda no problem in that .took one newly built hotel room offered us 500 bucks a room . nice room take shower time to retires and booze ,we ordered food from hotel restaurent and after having dinner we came out and sat on that hotel balcony enjoying some sweets which abhi buy from narkanda itself and around 11 pm we go in the room and sleep.good night.

DAY 3, 21 AUGUST 2009

easy wake up as we know not much distance to cover,last day abhi bike showing problem in climbing the hills so i offered him to put ur luggage on my bike ,from now on u will see his luggage on my bike back side.again we started from narkanda empty stomach thinking of eating in way.

DAY 3

road to rampur is totally downhill from narkanda ,lovely road apple trees all around ,u can see flowing satluj from here lovely view.i saw one bridge crossing satluj river ,so i got the idea of some offroading so i take abhi to that bridge and clicks lots of snaps and make videos as i am carrying sony handycam with me also.watch out:

reached rampur around 11 am clicking photos of different views .searched for atm because abhi was short of money again so we searched and in around a hour we got hdfc atm which has cash and ready for further ride till now no breakfat no lunch so plz carry enough cash with u because in these areas no enough atms available and the atms which are available is no gurantee if they have money left in tham or not .

after crossing rampur adventurous and dangerous roads starts .nice roads nice views .all the roads are made by cutting mountains strong winds blowing.see it to beleive it.












finally around 1 pm i found some busses stand on one side of road hurray it was a dhabha mazaa aa gaya i stopped there and wait for abhi to come and than we both ordered food abhi called for mutton momo and i ordered thali ghosh at last we found food. for all peoples who love food plz take something with urself to eat because there is no major dhabas between whole route from shimla to kaza and leh like punjabi dhabha which we found whan we go from delhi to shimla or manali so dont expect much this route is only for nature and adventure lovers so i want to advice u wherever u find anything to eat eat it dont wait for another dhabha.
after having lunch we purchased some biscuits and i put it on my tank bag side pockets si whan ever i feel hungry i can eat anytime.soon comes the kinnaur dwar famous photography point .

DAY 3

near wangtu some landlside occurs wait for half hour or so.



near karcham dam work starts bad roads full of mud and slush.driving on these roads makes u alien hehehe if specially u r on bikes .than road diverts to sangla,chitkul and recong peo. we take road to chitkul,this is first time i am going to chitkul.adventurous roads.

we dont stop at sangla continue to chitkul around 4 pm we were at chitkul .took newly built hotel there 400 a room .dont remember name.

DAY 3
whan we checked in the hotel its empty but by the night half of the hotel was occupied.abhi got a company family from calcutta comes, wow what a night i cant forget that night they have purchased some local wine from sangla it seems 2 full big bottles of wine .mobile is not working here so we move out to some police checkpost and call from there to home than we sat a bonfire and till midnight we all singing and dancing in that full of stars night they have also prepared special dinner for all peoples there kind of mix veg and non veg item .abhi and me drink as far as i remember 12 or 13 glass of that local wine heheheehe but in total control and no headack next day morning.i have no snap of that night but i have video ,abhi had photos ..in the end around 1 am we retires .


DAY 4

time to see chitkul .

there is nothing to see in chitkul ,but if u love nature and can sit for hours idle watching mothernature than this is the place for u.u will love it.after chitkul we say goodbye to our calcutta friends mr nath and familiy ,i got sms and calls from tham till i reach jalandhar thanx for sms and calls mr nath miss ur company ,meet u someday somewhere again and again enjoy night chitkul style.


DAY 4

time to say goodbye to chitkul and head to kalpa our next destiation.spend some time in sangla abhi wants to buy monkey cap got it in 100 rs .than we head to kalpa .

one thing i forget to tell u all in chitkul we met enduro himalayas group accompanied by ambulance ,luggage carrier van and around 50 bikes all bullet enfield kerala number and all are foreigners they are doing shimla to kaza to baralachla and back to manali. from chitkul to kaza some time they are with us and some time we are with tham kabhi aage kabhi picche aur kabhi kabhi to beech main bhi .

reached kalpa,took room ordered fried rice and veg chowmein,eat and sleep .wake up in evening cool strong winds blowing .took dinner and again sleep boring day for me atleast sitting idle and sleeping only atleast not for me,but from tomorrow adventure starts for me new places to explore wow.tabo i am coming .

DAY 5

woke up and freshed ,today is the day whan i really enjoys ,new places to explore new roads to travel wow i am excited today .first of all few early morning captures from kalpa hotel balcony not so clear dont know why

abhi wants to checked his bike from some mechnic and i want to wash the bike becuase who knows where we find washing and servicing.hard to find washing in kalpa but we find it 50 rs a wash .got it done.



after that we checked oil from mechanic and everything is fine ,and than i saw dhabha wow aaloo paranthas with curd and achaar i ate 4 abhi bhai ne bhi 1 paranthe par haath saaf kar hi diya ,bahut dino baad breakfast kiya tha aur aage ka kuch pata nahi tha.

DAY 5

Roads ahead of kalpa mixed type ,somewhere bad and good but not too bad and what a virgin roads no vehicle for many kms and scenery wow no words to say .enduro himalayas bikers ahead of us and wherever they stop to take mineral water or cold drinks on any shop whole the shop is empty in few minutes,it happens 2 or 3 times with us so we decided to stay ahead of tham .

around 1 pm nako but we think its too early to stay here so we proceed to tabo .i dont like nako lake so much i think its over hyped no offence to anybody .

after seeing nako we proceed to tabo mixed type of roads .and than comes famous maling nallah fresh land slide occur there so we wait for half an hour there.

reached tabo around 5 pm .nice place it was i liked this place .everything was great here good hotel in cheap price good hotel staff good food.soon we joined by bikers from chandigarh.

in the night we sat out on terrace and start booze uttrakhand and chandigarh guys joined us and we all enjoyed a lot .hotel waale bhi aa gaye balle balle good get together tonight.ordered food and sleep i really liked this place.

DAY 6

around 8 am we woke up and get ready in no time time to see tabo,tabo monestary and than head out to kaza.

reached kaza around 12 pm .looked for hotel and after seeing many hotels we choose one on the main road near petrol pump.than we head out to eat lunch and in end we find one restaurent in market and ordered mutton thukpa and veg thukpa .my god what a dish, boiled noodles with boiled vegetables in boiled water thats it no salt no mirchi nothing at all i have to put sause salt and peeper to eat it ,eat half of it and left the place and again search for lunch hehehe than i find one place serving thali wow one of my favourite 40 rs a thali in which i got rice,rotis,daal and saubzi .

DAY 6
after finishing lunch do some internet,inetrnet was very costly in kaza 80 rs hour.after net,we take our bike for checkup my bike oil changed brake,chain tight ready for rock and roll.retires for the day .

DAY 7
woke up early ,i get out ahead of abhi to shoot some photographs,our plan today was to cover pin valley than dhankar monestary and in the end ki kibber village but god has something different plans for us.
Time is around 7am and very cold and i am cursing myself why i havent took my windproof jacket and gloves with me from hotel complete lazyness ,i reached attargo from kaza ,attargo is a place from where road diverts to the pin valley,after reaching attargo at attargo bridge i stopped the bike and start taking snaps ,after taking snaps without any reason just aisi hi start cheking my tyres dont know how this thought comes to my idea so i start checking and than i found nail in my rear tyre and what a place attargo no place near by only place is kaza where i can find punture shop ,i am shocked to see nail because i dont have repair kit with me left in hotel room no spares.what to do now,after lot of thinking i took out nail from tyre as i think it is a tuffup tube and whan i pull out the nail from tyre its slime fill up the gap and punture not happens but no oh my god air starts coming out very fast shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh voice coming from tyre .now i dont have time to waste i quickly u turn my bike and start riding very fast to kaza , in the way i found abhi coming and he is seeing me like what the hell why he is coming back and i am just riding riding and riding no time to stop and tell abhi all thing because i have no time i just want to reach kaza.just waving to abhi to follow me so he starts following me just cursing myself why i start so soon .ok anyways jo ho gaya so ho gaya whan i reached kaza i found none of the shop is opened yet there is 2 shops in kaza none is opened ,so i again checked my tyre so i can see how much air is left in tyre but o god what is this ,no no ,yes yes how this can happen air is still full and no voice is coming, even i didnt trace that hole of the nail which i took out,wowwwwwwwww hurray soon abhi joins me and he is very angry because he has to wake up so early to join me and i dont stop for him in the way.so i told whole sitaution to abhi and than he cools down .

it was around 9 am punture shop opens and checked my tyre pressure it was ok .wow so this time we headed to see ki kibber .
