  • Hemkund a walk away ..... No its not

    Hi Everyone,
The Planning for Hemkund has been happening from sometime.
As we have done Gaumukh the earlier month, trekking was now a things that we could take.
Though we all ppl total 5 were from Delhi and had not thought that Hemkund was something to be feared of when it comes to the high altitude that we would have to go through.
Although with a lot of search over the internet and Xbhp's help i planned the itinerary and were ready to go.

This was the original Itinerary that i prepared.
But what happened after this was way outside the box...
    9th Evening stat from Delhi
In the morning of 10th reach Rishikesh by 3-4 am wait for sun to come. Normally sun shows up at 5am.
Start for Joshimath which is about 10-11 hours from Rishikesh.
    10th night stay at Joshimath.
11th Morning go to Govindghat (takes about 1 hour from Joshimath on bike to Govindghat)
Start trekking for Ghangaria which is 13 kms from Govindghat, normally takes 5-6 hours trek.
Reach Ghangaria and sleep there for that night.
12th Morning wake up early and start for Hemkund sahib. The trek is for 7 kms one way.
Normally takes 4-5 hours to climb and 2 hours down.
So to complete Hemkund one need 7-8 hours and its kind of tough.
Come back to Ghangaria and sleep for that night.
13th Morning wake up early if some have energy we are planning to see Valley of flowers, however at this time there are not too many flowers.
Come back to Ghangaria and start way back to Govindghat.
We will reach back in the day projected time is about 2-3 pm.
So we can travel back to Rudraprayag on bike.
Rudraprayag is about 124kms according to yahoo maps.
    Link: Yahoo! India Maps
    13th Night stay in Rudraprayag.
Next Day 14th start for Delhi, if everyone says than we can have chilled beer in one of the discovered beaches by agosh and me in Rishikesh
And at about 3-4pm start for Delhi so we can reach Delhi at around 10-11pm.

    Day Wise Break UP
    9th
Night at 10pm start for Rishikesh.
    10th
