  • [Photo Feature]: After 8hrs and 550kms........

PROLOGUE: This itch started a long long back in my college days... ride all the day on a motorcycle on the smoothest of roads! Just this much no other idea of what bike or what road just a long awaiting itch... and I want to do this alone.

Finally after joining xBhp a few months back I had a clear thought of what and what is to be done to scratch this itch..... alreay procured a Machine(my bike) The Apparel(riding gear) I even am aware of the apparel only after xBhp..

I would rather say xBhp is the best thing happened in my life

The Episode: Finally the day came on saturday 26.06 as planned earlier took out my bike early in the morning 4.00am set the ODO to 0.0, all geared up and started the ride...
Destination: 500kms+ on the ODO, just a vauge idea that NH7 is the ideal route...

Took the NH7 towards Adilabad in AP, the road is awsome... its still dark and a bit dissapointing(I hate to drive in dark) and adding to my frustration a cop waved me down at the outskirts, just took a couple of minutes to check me and once again I start my ride...

Time 5.00am crossed the city limits and drove more into the wilderness and from the corner of my eye could see a hint of light in the sky and a glimmer of hope and a raise of my spirits.... slowly the real beauty of the road came into view and all the wilderness turned out to be a very serene plains with occasional blouders, on the ODO its just a patheic 70kms... Suddenly a speed limit board 100! and here starts the adrenalin

Took the bike to a steady 100 and the road starts to vanish underneath the tyres, and the next time I get to check the the ODO its 120kms and the sun raised well above the horizon breaking in the day... felt like a stop decided to do it after 150 on the ODO, here comes the stop in the middle of nowhere only a occasional truck passing by took some pics of the beatiful morning drank some water cleaned the helmet visor! (its full of insects)

Started my ride again and after only a copule of these mesmerizing moments suddenly the NH turned into a puny two line road with a lot of construction going on around.. lost all the happiness in the mind and a riding with a grim face into nothingness, still at the back of the mind a little hope to find the wide tarmac once again, on the ODO 170kms and here come a railways crossing decided to stop have a chai... After talking with the chaiwala once again I am in high spirits for just what he told, it is after 10kms further the NH is once again good. Once again strapped in all the belts and zipped everything and started to ride. Here comes the highway and this time the speedlimit borad meant nothing to me and am doing triple digit speeds only suddenly seen a sign post which attracted me to it like a magnet, 3kms towards the left is the Sriramsagar dam. checked the mirrors and breaked my speed and took the turn with a positive mind, time is 7.15 ODO 203kms went on to the dam took some pictures of my bike and the dam. Once again started my ride and am back on the tarmac and started cruising.

After a couple of kms suddenly a blockade on the road and a diversion from the NH into a small town but this time my dissapointment did not last long enough. Ahead is the GHAT Section board sign to drive carefully. This is my first time in ghat section and I am elated.

After the GHAT section once again I am on the NH and started cruising the ODO is showing 240kms and once again I stopped at a road side shop for chai and other things, casually asked the very friendly shopkeeper about tourist places around the area and he mentioned this waterfalls after some 20kms on the NH and some more into the jungle(I already knew about the falls even asked one of the xBhpian about his experience about that place but didnot know it is on the same NH). I decided to go there, after getting proper directions from the fellow I started off once again there is no trouble in finding where to get off the NH (thanks to the helpful people) once I am off the NH I am in sheer bliss the very picturesque scenery is awaiting for me, I drove into the jungle taking pictures all along for about 10kms crossed a couple of villages enroute confirmed with the villagers that I am going in the right direction, suddenly came across the barricade in the middle of the jungle and here welcomes the board KUNTALA WATERFALLS, to my dismay it is locked I parked my bike in the parking space aloted to the tourists.. the only things in that deep jungle is Me my ZMR and the barricade along with cooing birds..
On the ODO +260kms took a couple of pictures. The wilderness took over my zeal of adventures, I am some what frightened and I headed back towards the NH after reaching the NH by 10.00am I analysed that if I head back to my place the ODO will be +500kms and started my ride backwards... No presentable incidents on the way back just two rest stops enroute and came back to my place with 530kms on the ODO and a satisfied smile on my face....

    THE BEGNING OF END.....

Nice trip there! We did the same, but then the road condition was really bad, 4 lane was only for the 1st 70-80kms.
How is the approach road to Kuntala now? I remember it being very thin&rocky.
Btw, did you enjoy the corners on the part whose pic you have posted? I really enjoyed those, you can see a pic of mine in the same place my thread too.

Now almost all the road is NH, only some 100kms of normal road... my luck, The approach road to the falls is still narrow but not too bad to ride... Corners! not on that narrow road I am not even doing 50kmph there, I have tested the corners of the NH though..

What is the best time to visit these falls? I am assuming Rainy season. I will be on holiday in 2 weeks time and was looking for a far off destination. Can you help me with that. The ride from Pune is approx 600km..

Nice trip log & pics. One problem with solo rides is that you dont get to be present in the pics.

Congo for you first long ride & best wishes for many more to come.
