    Q: Advice from RE Thunderbird Owners

    Hi guys,
    Please help me with my query regarding RE Thunderbird.

    Is it advisable to travel 3k+ km on the Thunderbird in 15 days with a pillion and luggage? Two adults, medium weight and saddle bag full of stuff.

    Although the load capacity of the bike is slated at 160 kg, do you think the bike can take it? Will it affect the bike's performance negatively in the long run?

    I am planning a trip to South India. And I must fix this issue really soon.

        Just treat it with love and everything would be fine, although you may have minor issues like oiling, loose chain, loose bolts etc.
        Just relax and enjoy your ride..

          The recommended load for a RE TB is around 160KGs but the proof load it has been tested to is around 20% more which is cloase to 192 kgs . Follow the basic requirements for a long ride as stated in the manual as well as stock up with the basic minimum spares as recommended and you should be fine .

            Guys, I was worried that all that weight and hilly roads, ghats and hill stations of south, could make manouvering very difficult. And increase the load on the engine.
            According to you guys, its OK then?

              just go ahead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thump in south

              Dude.... i travelled on my suzuki fiero in june 2004 to shimla with a pillion rider weiging 7 kg more then me... i am 71Kg. with basic luggage.... so don't think that TB can't take it.

              carry basic tools specially for loosen nuts n bolts, bulbs, oil the chain & don't grease it. If travelling more in dusty places then during journey if possible wash the chain with petrol & then re-oil it.... keep thumping.

              waise..... in chennai u can find guys for having RE awesomly.. CHROMED.

              These guys really die for that shine of chrome.

                I have done 2200 kms on TBTS with pillion in three days. No issues. Make sure you are ready to encounter small problems like punctures and all.
