  • Q: Planning a huge roadtrip. Need help!

    Hello everyone,

My friends and I are planning a roadtrip across India from Uttarakhand to Tamil Nadu and then to Mumbai. It's a huge trip, and we need help planning it out!

The route we have chosen so far is:

    Almora >> Delhi >> Agra >> Gwalior >> Bhopal >> Pench National Park >> Nagpur >> Hyderabad >> Anantapur >> Bangalore >> Dindigul >> Kodaikanal >> Ooty >> Mysore >> Shimoga >> Gokarna >> Goa >> Pune >> Mumbai

If anyone has been on any part of our planned route, we would be very grateful for any information you can provide us with (Roads conditions, safety, etc).

    Thank You

May we know the objective of this ride? It starts from Uttaranchal, but ends in Maharashtra. Also I see KL not part the trip in South India, which is hard to miss. How many of you are riding? What bikes? How many days in hands? Sry if there're too many questions, as I couldn't get a theme for it.

ATGATT + Awareness + Skill means you might Live To Ride another day

We are 4 school friends who studied at Kodaikanal International School, TN. All of us have been bike and car enthusiasts since our childhood, and always dreamed of doing long trips. When we were in school, we had planned a car trip for after our graduation from Kodaikanal to New Delhi, and then to Almora. However, we could not get around to doing it as we could not get our driving licences on time and also because the 4 of us did not have enough money to finance the trip.

For the last 1 year that we have been in college, we have all worked part time and saved enough money to finally do the trip we had always wanted to do. The bikes are a Bullet Lightning 535, a Bullet Standard and either an Avenger 220 and a Pulsar 220.

We want to know if the route we have planned is the best route, and if there are places we should avoid. What are the roads like. Also, we are planning to take tents and camp in various places. Is that allowed? And is it safe?

The trip ends in Maharashtra because our class is having a reunion in Mumbai and no one knows what the plans will be after that. Therefore, we have only kept the trip until Mumbai. Also, in the 7 years that we were in school down south, we travelled throughout Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Therefore, Kerala not a part of our trip.

        Thanks

Best in terms of what? Road condition? Locality? Weather?

If I were you, I'd simply stay off from UP, MP; call me freak, I'd stay off from AP too, but that's me!!! But there's people who tour even NE. So I really don't know what should be avoided

UP, MP not sure though; but again, pitching in Forest is different from pitching near a fuel station; personally, I'd consider safe pitching where there're no humans ...but again, this is a free country isn't it ?

I mean is the route best in terms of road conditions, weather and places to see. Is there another route we can take which will be more scenic and have more tourist spots. Also, I heard there is major construction at NH 7/44 in some areas, but that was some time ago. I too figure that it would be safer to pitch tents in a forest. However, someone I know had pointed out that pitching tents is not allowed anywhere but in a campsite.
