I plan to do a solo on a 2006 Bullet CI 500 . The questions are what precautions to take. What spares do I carry ? and ofcourse which is the route to be taken ?

I was suggested the following route :

    Bombay-Pune-Satara-Karad-Kolhapur-Belgaum-Hubli-Harihar-Chitradurga-Tumkur-Nelamangala-Bangalore-Hoskote-Kolar-Chittoor-Ranipet-Kanchipuram-Sriperumbudur-Madras

    Please advise

Safest route, nothing really required; if you're a DIY person with RE, then you're the better person to judge

IMHO, RE is not such a fragile motorcycle, it can certainly do more than 1500 Km a day. Get the BULL thoroughly serviced, ride it in the city for over 150-200 Km before your actual trip & iron out niggling issues.

If the vehicle is equipped with ORing, then lube, though not really necessary; if you change all the cables during the service, then cables are not necessary either. If you start as early as 3:00 in the morning, you can finish off the trip within a day.

Route is fine, just a small correction as you can achieve it even shorter...
Bombay-Pune-Satara-Karad-Kolhapur-Belgaum-Hubli-Harihar-Chitradurga-Tumkur-NICE road-Hosur-Krishnagiri-Vaniyambadi-Vellore-Sriperumbudur-Chennai, unless you really want to get into Bangalore, in which case, you may opt for your original route adviced.

Edit - Here's the GMap for your convenience - http://g.co/maps/3kta8

Edit 2 - Watchout for excessive speed breakers between Chitradurga & Tumkur & little bit of diversions

I recently did this route! Excellent NH4 all the way. No issues at all. I would suggest you to do it in 2 days. I took a break at night in Devenagere near Chitradurga.

Am sure its a 2 day plan, if you have not changed oil, change it to 20W50 & carry additional litre of oil.

Just carry a throttle cable, spare fuse, bulb, chain connector.

Try riding for around 50 to 100 Kms after service & this would help you for a longer journey

do not rush with a CI engine, give it time & you can be consistent & you will not feel tired.

Rest...not to worry, it would take care of you.
Never Give up on something that you can't go a day without thinking about.
