with all the bikers here, i dont think i can find a better place to post this. so here goes.
I live in bangalore and i got bitten by the biking bug 1-2 years back. all i have been able to do is couple of rides for few hundred KMs, max from b'lore to ooty. Since then i have been trying to find a buddy/partner who would ride with me regularly. After begging, asking planning with many a folks, things haven't worked out. Yeah there are biking clubs and groups but somehow i dunno i dont feel at home there. I see a lot of subgroups there and somehow i am not able to find the person i am looking for. I am also not somebody who would decide on friday night for a ride on saturday. there are other things in life which i need to take care so this doesnt work. So what if i dont have the typical 'biker habits'? discovering touring is the best thing that has happened to me. i dont ride like a maniac nor like turtle and by the way i am in my 30s . but dont worry i dont behave old or preach to youngsters
i have read and heard of many guys who ride solo, but i feel it becomes boring and what if i really need someone for any urgency (fall, flat tyre, etc).
my idea of touring is atleast a 500-750km (round trip) once a month. and 1-2K km atleast 3 times a year. well this is just an idea it can be more but not less.
Of course getting Lehd is there somewhere on my mind but i really want to visit other parts of india before that and to start with i can go all around the south of it before i think of really long and adventurous rides across the country.
So pls if you are also someone like me and would like to hang along PM me and lets gets riding.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Same as how I feel skanatsoni ..... finding that riding partner has been elusive.. I am from Chennai, otherwise I would have teamed up with you... Even I like to have a planned ride, though there have been times when I just get on the bike and ride with no destination in mind... Though I've been riding bikes for 12 years ( am in my early 30's) only in the past 3 months, has the interest sparked in touring or riding for long distances. Guess the passion was dormant as there were other things to do ... I have a KTM Duke 200, what's your ride ?

I am in Bangalore till tomorrow night, staying in Kormangala. Where are you from . I wanted to ride down on my Bike last weekend. Only one rider was available and the rest of the folks couldn't allocate time. As I had to stay over for a week, it wasn't prudent to let him ride back alone. So had to travel by bus. However, will do a Chennai - Bangalore ride somehow in the next couple of months and probably a Kanyakumari trip before end of this year.

Balancing work and life for these rides is the most difficult aspect... somehow it does work itself out. I wish all the best in your riding partner search and hope you find the right person with whom you can crunch many miles and etch many memories together .. Take care..

Sire, I'm in!
Wow... I shifted to Bangalore from Chennai 10 days back. I was looking for a partner meeself!

My short resume:-
Name - Divya Sharan
Age - 24
Ride - KariZMR
Planning needed before rides - Not mandatory, but highly preferred...

So, that sums it up... I don't think we'd have many differences.
Currently, I'm trying to figure out a certain issue with the front tire, but I want to do a trip in the last week of this month.

Guys...finding a riding / rouring partner online is not going to work out unless and until you guys meet up & share some thoughts and everybody has a unique riding style (Short Rider / Long tourer / Photo rider / posing rider / fast rider / slow rider / average rider) etc...

My suggestion would be to join in any of the groups / clubs around & meet up with people for chai / chat & it takes time to get a good touring partner...it does not happen overnight. you might not like a rider who wants to have a drink by the end of the day & hard partying kinds or vice versa

Once you meet up with a club / group and get to know people & the chemistry would work out with 1 or 2 people or a group after 2 or 3 rides...but still it would take a lot of time to get along & keep it going beyond biking also.

There will be quite a lot of mistakes which we would be doing & others would be doing, we should look at these and correct ourselves & adjust few with others and it doesnt happen just like that.

Am 38yrs old & when I moved to Jaipur, I had the simillar feeling & met up with one of the guys & we were able to create a group & now I would say there is a partner who had good riding skills & has a simillar mindset to do touring, we debate / discuss & have done quite a few trips around. We even just think about doing a ride without any planning & do it just like that

Re: Touring partner

Wow, things change. I posted this thread a long long time back. And then almost forgot about it. I saw a few posts but never came back here.
So the updates are: I started riding solo -- and I am just loving it
I ride the FZ1 mostly on highway dashes and have a D390 which I use for long tour rides and Sunday exploratory ones.
I am still ok joining with anyone who might be interested.
Ride safe have fun!!

Re: Touring partner

Hi
I am exactly in same boat. In Bangalore, in 30s, work and family commitments. Earlier was riding 1st gen Fiero, then moved to Car, did few long drives; but bike touring was always on the back of mind. Hence, Bought Inazuma. Did couple of short ride like Nandi hills, Mysore. Want to go for little longer, say z300-500 one way. But cannot go alone as don't have much experience in bike touring. Being a little bit reserved person, biking group is not my cup of tea.
Looking for like minded guys, with whom can plan the touring. Like to start to chennai as have travelled many a times on the route in solo car drive. May be ooty, kodaikal, rameshwaram....

Wow, you have an fz1, nice !!
I landed here searching for fellow riders to go somewhere, just for the ride[emoji1]. I live 400 kms from blore but I've ridden to blore a few times, so I wouldn't mind riding to blore and going elsewhere from there. I'm 24 and my parents are abroad. So I'm totally looking forward to road trips. But I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to catch up with the FZ1 or the duke, because I ride a Gixxer(nope, not that, the indian 150cc version[emoji16]).

Cheers !

skantsoni (and @others too)- am in bangalore too and am looking for riding partners to form a small group. Being a family man, riding each weekend doesn't really happen - once every 2/3 weeks, I'd like to go on a 200-400 kms day-trips. Do let me know if you are interested.

Btw, I am in my early 40s and ride a Harley Fat Bob. Thanks.

Hey, nice to see people who wanna ride. I do ride every week but that doesnt mean you need to join in everytime. Just ping me whenever you would like to join in.
Also I generally dont like doing straight highways
