I will be looking for your travelogue ... I would like to be at Jodhpur and as per my schedule, will be missing out on Jaipur and Bikaner . Let's see if I can accommodate Bikaner into it ...Originally posted by rameshmadhavan View PostWe are planning in on a ride in Rajasthan by sometime in the next month
and this is for 4 days with which you can cover completely on road...use 3 days to stay 1 - Udaipur, 1 - Jaisalmer, 1 - Jaipur
effectively 7 days in Rajasthan & other locations you can cover as per your plan

hehehe ... But roads like that are really boring after some time ...Originally posted by aargee View PostThey're not bad, but remember, you cannot expect Tumkur-Chitradurga-Davangere-Hubli stretches everywhere

We have been riding together for quiet some time, in fact for the last 2-3 years. We compliment each other and knows each others capability. Also we both ride Classic 350 ...Originally posted by aargee View PostExcellent; then you guys have to double consider riding for 15 odd hours!!!
A couple of rides are on the way ....Originally posted by aargee View PostOk...but...remember to make several nerve breaking rides; for instance, before starting RJ trip, I tried Chennai-Trichy-Chennai (measuring accurate time & distance), ensured that I've juice to do 700+ Kms a day & only then I started; after riding Chennai to Pune, that instilled more confidence; doing Jaipur-Mumbai gave inspired me to do Mumbai to Chennai. All these rides gave me confidence to do 3 days & 1700+ Kms & that inturn inspired me to do GQ. Point is that, test your patience & tiredness through several short & manageable rides before you actually test the waters.
Reached Goa in 28 hours (1100km through NH-17Originally posted by aargee View PostLike what? 4-5 days? Then its good
)
1300km Return Journey in 2 days ..
Point well noted ...Originally posted by aargee View Post
Tks for taking it in positive spirit
Like I said, do some planning, there're quite few places...
Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Ajmer (if you like), Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Karni Mata Temple, Ranthambore, Mt Abu, Jodhpur, Ranakpur (if you want), Bhangarh. When you've 20 days, I'd say, use as much as possible so that you'll not regret like me to visit RJ for one more time. Next time someone says, "Hey you've been there in RJ?", you can confidently say, "yea, nice place" instead of finding lame excuses like me
When're you riding dates? Try to book the hotels through online (or transfer the money, I can book it here at RTDC); and remember to stay ONLY at RTDC & only RTDC. You'll love the food + accommodation. I personally felt there's no other place where the bikes can be parked so secure. Being off season, you can CHOOSE to leave the bookings for now & avail 10% discount on tariff
I'd encourage you make a detailed plan (whether you think it possible or not is immaterial) starting from Udaipur, either clockwise or anti clockwise (like Udaipur-Jodhpur-Jaisalmer-Jaipur-Ajmer-Chittorgarh-Udaipur or the other way round) MOST IMPORTANTLY AFTER going through the previous T'Logs & suggestion incorporated there. Put up the plan & then we'll discuss about the timing as when & how to cross the places (like crossing Mumbai, bypassing Pune-Mumbai & Vadodara-Ahmedabad expressway etc). Ramesh, Deejay & other friends from RJ will certainly help us. If you include Barmer or enroute to Jaisalmer, catch up AppuGodhra another xBhpian. When you're going so far, try to take some time out to meet fellow xBhpians & include that in your plan as well

I think RTDC hotels can be booked online. .. isn't it..
My Ride dates are not near ... I will be riding by the onset of Winter only ... ie : by October. But some changes are expected as a couple of my Friends are getting Married and the dates are not yet fixed. So Actually depending on their marriage dates I will have to reschedule my leaves.
Right now I am buying things needed for the journey .. Couple of things per month.. (Tyre, backpack,Lens etc)
Thanks
Aneesh

Then if possible you can have a look at this routeOriginally posted by avk84 View PostI will be looking for your travelogue ... I would like to be at Jodhpur and as per my schedule, will be missing out on Jaipur and Bikaner . Let's see if I can accommodate Bikaner into it ...
Do not miss Pokran / Barmer / Chittorgarh...though I have not visited have heared those are good places to visit apart from Jodhpur / Udaipur / Jaisalmer etc etc...
Rajasthan is a place where you would really enjoy...this is not a desert state & this is the right season, by end of august you will see tourists everywhere in Rajasthan.
If you have time then plan to visit Mt. Abu also, the roads are awesome & unbelievable scenic view which we would have watched only in movies & I bet it would beat Kerala for its greenary around
I had always liked the Cbe to Palghat ghat section though it is congested with truck traffic, the above said Mt. Abu route would be breathtaking if you compare with itNever Give up on something that you can't go a day without thinking about.
Cheers

Vishwas jee I have reached the Day 4 of your log ...
I am a fan of yours after I read your Leh travelogue ...
Another thing is you had a Ninja and mine is a bull ... So if you can do constant 120+, then what I can do is 90-ish ...
And that makes difference in long rides like these ...

Not really. Only on three days, we did more than 600 km. Rest all days, the ride was much shorter.Originally posted by avk84 View PostAnother thing is you had a Ninja and mine is a bull ... So if you can do constant 120+, then what I can do is 90-ish ...

We stayed at a place called Hotel Haveli. Not a very good hotel. Just decent. Haveli hotel, Jaisalmer Rs.750/night A/c. Dx. RoomOriginally posted by avk84 View PostCan you please let me know where you spend the night on Jaislamer ...
Is it advisable? No.Originally posted by avk84 View PostIs it advisable to travel Bangalore - Pune - Mumbai road by night.
Say 1.00pm start from Bangalore and Cross Mumbai by early morning ...
Is it safe? Yes.
I personally would not advise anyone to ride in the night on any highway. If you start at around 5 am from Bangalore, you can easily reach Pune by 5 pm. If you bypass Pune, you can reach Mumbai (Thane) by 9 pm latest. Or take a breather at Pune, have dinner and then leave Pune around 8 pm, you would avoid peak time traffic in Thane and can cross it by 11 pm.Never argue with an idiot. If it's Safe, then we can do it ... I really like riding during night, as it's less on traffic, crossings etc.
Also I will be reaching Bangalore by early morning only .. So have to take a nap before starting off
