but why this Kolaveri Di??
Why do you want to do it in a way that you are putting your own and others' life in danger.
Keep more days in hand, ride in a relaxed manner, and enjoy it. Nobody's gonna give you a trophy for completing this in fastest time.(Been There Done That) x 3.25

Ys it looks like a endurance one...but really not a practical one. Am just commenting on the Tamilnadu stretch as am from Tamilnadu and I know the roads / routes there to some extent
The route you have planned does not go with the flow...from Nellore to Chennai & from Chennai why do u want to go to Cheyyar you can take the ECR route to Puducherry(Mind you the traffic to cross Chennai and take ECR is going to be hectic) - Instead you can think about the byepass to Tindivanam and Pondicherry & from Pondicherry you need to take Chidambaram (Not sure if you would want to visit Poompuhar - Distance by around 40kms)) - Sirkazi - Karaikal - (Why again to Kodikkarai - As the routes are bad and if you want to visit Calimere then consider time factor or 3-5hrs) instead u can take a diversion from Nagapattinam to Velankani to Thiruthurai poondi - Athiramapattinam - (If u go to Rameswaram again time is a factor of 3-5hrs only for a attendance visit) instead check Keelakarai, Tuticorin - Thiruchendur - Kudankulam - Kanyakumari
Google for the routes in detail, dont give location like major towns, get in more details between major towns & places of importance in each of these, create a detailed xl sheet or write in a piece of paper so that you will remember each and every detail.
The entire plan looks very vague, pls evaluate for buffer days, bike service requirement, location of service centres, accomodation at the right places etcNever Give up on something that you can't go a day without thinking about.
Cheers

Having done the GQ along NH5, I hope my 2 cents counts here...Originally posted by ash_akbari View PostDigha (West Bengal) – Baleswar
From Kolkatta to Badhrak it took about 4:30 hours with 15 min break, 10 min to have got lost at Karaghpur interchange & 10 min for Maaza break; distance being 200+ Kms. So that speak about the quality of roads in the East of India & that too on GQ. I leave the rest to you to imagine the quality of the roads you'll be taking.
Having done this entire stretch, here're my takes...Originally posted by ash_akbari View PostIchchapuram – Arasavalli – Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) – Yanam (Puducherry) – Narasapur – Machilipatnam – Bapatla – Ongole – Nellore – Durgarajupatnam (Andhra Pradesh) – Chennai – Kelambakkam – Cheyyar (Tamil Nadu) – Puducherry – Karaikal (Puducherry) – Kodikkarai (Point Calimere) – Mimisal – Ramanathapuram – Tuticorin – Thiruchendur – Ovari Paravarnattam – Kanyakumari (Tamil Nadu) – Kolachel – Kovalam – Thiruvananthapuram
Ichapuram-Vizag - My timing was around 4 hours WITHOUT break having slept for just 2-3 hours the previous night (Binoy can comment further as he has also done this)
Vizag to Vijayawada to Nellore - approx 3:20 min from Vizag to Vijayawada only on riding time; approx 3:00 hours from Vijayawada to Nellore.
Chennai - Kelambakkam - Depends on the timing; say you do early morning, it easily takes nearly two hours for this small distance unless you're taking bye pass which is not coastal
Kelambakkam - Cheyyar - Pondi - Karaikal - I did Marina in Chennai to Karaikal in about 5:30 hours which includes 1 hour breakfast, 2 refuels, 3-4 photography session & very very relaxed riding (in my terms
)
Karaikal - Kodiakarai - takes easily 2-2.5 hours very easily
Kodiakarai-Ramanathapuram-Tuticorin-Tiruchendur-Kanyakumari is THE BEST scenic road in my opinion & one SHOULD not miss this stretch. Anyway, it should take about 4-5 hours.
Do it on the 5 days when there's curfew in the countryOriginally posted by ash_akbari View PostAny how we have to finish this journey in 5 days
Don't book hotels in advance; find them on the flyOriginally posted by ash_akbari View PostShould we ride as we can or we have to fixed night stay and booked hotel in advance?
You may or may notOriginally posted by ash_akbari View PostWe might have some technical problem in bike
Have a question for you - How was the number 5 coming from? Was it picked up from thin air?Originally posted by ash_akbari View PostGuys we need guidance from you
I'm ALSO with SunilG on this; ride safe, but, if you want to do it for record, do it with extreme cautious.

Bro on papers it looks clean and neat. Me and @Aargee together did the GQ this June. It took 6 days and 4 hrs for me to cover 5965kms(on my odo) but it was just less than 6 days for @Aargee. But from my experience doing a GQ in 5 days is the maximum you can ask for which has the best roads in India AFAIK. But your route map will get complicated when it comes to Kerala
which has the worst roads and no proper highways.
This route itself is around 400kms which will take around 8hrs just coz of the traffic and road conditions.
This is distance we covered on each day in the GQ;
Day 1: Bangalore-Mumbai - 1050kms
Day 2: Mumbai-Rishabdev - 660kms
Day 3: Rishabdev-Hodal - 820kms
Day 4: Hodal-Mohania - 785kms
Day 5: Mohania-Bhadrak - 905kms
Day 6: Bhadrak-Bangalore - 1745kms
You can see the Day 6 which I took 29hrs to cover 1745kms from Bhadrak-Bangalore. I don't know how to suggest better routes for you as you wan't to do it for a record and to stick with the same route plan. As @Aargee suggested HV Kumar Sir is the right person to suggest that(you can find his group in FB). As you said you are planning to do in 5 days so that the record can't be easily broken, I fear someone can even attempt 7k+ kms in 5 days even in a GQ route. Not discouraging you, but I suggest to rethink on the days or rethink on the route. Both won't go hand-in-hand
.
Good Luck

@ Binoy & Aargee - You guys did one hell of a ride...am only thinking how you guys managed the last day with all the 5 days fatigue and stiff backs
appreciate your ride crossing Rajasthan in the hot summer, I saw literally tired Binoy at Jaipur at the Delhi Byepass by around noon & you guys kept continuing.Never Give up on something that you can't go a day without thinking about.

It will make me feel *shudder* when ever I think of GQOriginally posted by rameshmadhavan View Post@ Binoy & Aargee - You guys did one hell of a ride...am only thinking how you guys managed the last day with all the 5 days fatigue and stiff backs

. But it was one memorable ride of life time for both of us
. Yes it was too hot GQ ride. Actually the ride was beautiful upto Jaipur where we met. After that it was hell until we reached Hodel that night. Jaipur-Delhi stretch was the bad stretch I would say in the whole GQ coz of heat, construction works and traffic
. Anyway it was nice meeting you at Jaipur
. Oops lets not high-jack this thread

Million $$$ words; BANG truth word by wordOriginally posted by Binoy View PostBro on papers...suggest that(you can find his group in FB)
Exactly; doing 1500 a day is completely different from doing mere 800 Km consecutively for 5 days. Though I never told Binoy, if there wasn't an A/C accommodation at Hodal, I would've taken rest for next day + the Kanpur & Allahabad bye passes were the encouragement for the next day & the scenic Jarkhand stretch for the next day were the boosters. And Binoy, if you think doing Badhrak-Chennai was amazing, take my word, it was done out of reaching home in frustration after not having proper sleep at Badhrak the previous night.Originally posted by Binoy View PostAs you said you are planning to do in 5 days so that the record can't be easily broken, I fear someone can even attempt 7k+ kms in 5 days even in a GQ route
So what I'm trying to say is, it's not just the ride, one ALSO needs adequate rest otherwise people will go crazy & start behaving (BEHAVING) like shrink. And imagine all these things going to the right wrist. It's a FACT.
Exactly, even I don't want to discourage; if there's one who can tell you accurately, its HVK Sir in this country & that's why I suggested him.Originally posted by Binoy View PostNot discouraging you, but I suggest to rethink on the days or rethink on the route. Both won't go hand-in-hand
Some of the I penned down above Ramesh; I'm not saying impossible or difficult; anyone with a little determination & passion can certainly fare better than both of us. Only thing is PLANNING has to be accurate & rest has to be adequate.Originally posted by rameshmadhavan View Post@ Binoy & Aargee - You guys...noon & you guys kept continuing.
Something like achievement of lifetime; even if I do it like 10 times or even make a world record, the first ride will always be memorable.Originally posted by Binoy View PostBut it was one memorable ride of life time for both of usSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
