I am about to start a one-month-ish tour of South India (in the next few days) and I'm hearing different descriptions of the various monsoon conditions around South India. I want to contingency plan as best as I can.
My original plan was, starting in Chennai, to go down the east coast and inland of Tamil Nadu, then down to Kanyakumari, then up through Kerala, up to Mysore, through Ooty, Bangalore, then back to Chennai.
Is that the right direction? I know the monsoons are supposed to pick up in mid Oct in TN and hit the Western Ghats the worst, but I've only heard vague stories and don't know what it will be like to try and drive when it's not raining or pretty wet.
What should I hit first? What will be safest to leave till later? Mud on mountains is a concern. I'll have a bullet 350 with a girlfriend on the back.
Thanks!
Matt
