  • Grunt rides to Goa..

My wife and myself are planning a ride to Goa next week. Dont want to get there in a hurry, and would like to spend some time looking at places enroute.
I am thinking of taking the Bangalore --> Tumkur --> Shimoga --> Karwar --> Goa route.

    Need some information folks.

    1) How is the road condition especially concerned about pot holes? Considering my ride's suspension is not built to negotiation our definition of a "road".
    2) Plan to stop over at Shimoga on the first day, any suggestions for places to stay or visit along the way?

    Cheers!

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

If you are referring to Shimoga-Sagar-Sirsi-yellapur-Ankola-Karwar-Goa route. Then except for the small stretch, soon after the Thalaguppa junction, hardly for 5-10 mtrs the road is a bit rough but definitely can be ridden even with the worst possible suspension. Apart from that, the rest of the route is good.

If you are rereferring to Shimoga-Sagar-Jogfalls-Honnavar-Karwar-Goa route : Apart from the 10-15kms stretch between Jog and Honnavar, rest of the route is very much ride friendly.

Most parts of both the routes are recently relaid, so not much worries. Personally i feel Shimoga is too close for a stop over. you can consider Ankola/Gokarna/Karwar for a stopover. Now that rains are not in full flow most places wouldnt have turned green. Ride Safe.

Thanks a lot Sir.. will take the route through Jog. Checked the weather and looks like its started raining in part of the country. Will make for a fun ride.
