    1st timer vijaywada-kolkota route help

    about me and the goal
    -5.6 ft ht,64 kg,hairy male
    -solo ride with around 5kg personal luggage
    -from Vijayawada to kolkata approx 1200 km
    -starting on 1 July

    required help-
    -choice of bike-Suzuki gs150r or hero impulse for this journey?
    -suitable time for starting from Vijayawada,wish to cover it under 24 hrs but not necessarily a priority
    -road conditions
    -list of spares/gears to carry(if any particular for the mentioned stretch and this July weather)
    -other tips after reading the p.s

    p.s-original journey starting from Hubli upto gauhati,plan to do Hubli-vijaywada-kolkota-siliguri-gauhati.OT,i shall be graduating and sadly its during monsoons

      Excellent 4-laned NH 5 all the way to Kolkata except a small stretch in Odisha near Rambha/Balugaon where works were still in progress resulting in diversions through the town in last October. Border-crossing from AP to Odisha and from Odisha to WB was tiresome due to armies of trucks parked on the entire carriageway. Roads were rough while entering Kolkata.

        Follow GQ route, nothing big deal doing the 4 laned highway; since you're on motorcycle, no issues on traffic either. Watch out for non uniformly smooth finished bridges in OR that appears after Badhrak for over 100+ Km towards Kharagpur interchange. Other than that, 2 diversions which are not difficult to understand in OR (not sure at which place they appear, probably before Rambha, I guess)

          thank you all,but should i take the impulse or gs150r?i find impulse fun but have doubts over its long touring capacities over highway

            You can even ride a bicycle, because the rider matters more than the ride!

              Of the two, GS150R would be best choice for comfortable cruising. Its heavy and stable, has good shocks, comfortable riding position, and extra six gear for better cruising.
