You can try with HPTDC. They have good properties in HP. The rooms in a budget hotels are also quite nice, if not 5 star rated. I have stayed in many HPDTC Hotels.

If you can, try to vist the narrow gauge railway track/stations. Some of the stations look AWESOME. Barog is one of them. Rainy season makes it more enchanting. Try to travel to few stations ahead from Kasauli.

My uplanned trip there landed me in this Hotel.. All I can say is that it is clean and the rooms face a valley behind. Looks cool.

The trip was on 21-06-2008. The same time as now 5 years back!! Its a very apt time to visit the place.
