Hi guys,
I will be travelling from New Delhi to Kharagpur this weekend. Was wondering the route to take. Kharagpur is a small town situated between Kolkata and Jamshedpur. You all must have heard of IIT Kharagpur. The distance is roughly 1500kms. The route I intend to take is NH-2 all the way till Kolkata and then divert back to Kharagpur which is approx 100kms. The problem is I will be going extra kms if I take this route through UP,Bihar and then Bengal.
Is there a shorter route which has been travelled.My itineary on NH-2 is to take a halt at varanasi for the night and complete the entire run the next day!
Please reply asap as I have to finalize the plans in 2 days!!

Very easliy doable. Take the Taj Expressway to Agra. Then head to Kanpur. Kanpur to Allahabad, Varanasi and straight to Calcutta. Easiest, fastest safest route. Don't bother doing any other.

Do keep in mind you will be getting intermittent rain and horribly strong sun in between.
