  • Hyderabad - Kerala: Route Assistance

    Hi Folks,

I expect the Duke 390 to be in my hands in a few days time. And I have been wanting to do a road trip down south(home) for some time now. What I am looking for is to understand the Road conditions and any pre-experience tips that will help in planning things better.

Also, I need to understand if anyone has recently traveled to Bangalore through all the issues with Seemandhra/Rayalseema? Are the highways still blocked? Are pumps open? Is there any other alternate route to Bangalore?

Route as per suggested by Google:

    Hyderabad - Bangalore - Madurai - Thenkasi - Pandalam

My preferred Route (Only because I have been through this route before in a car):

    Hyd - Blr - Salem - Aluva - Pandalam

Between Salem and Pandalam, I could use either of the below 2 options:

    Salem - Aluva - Alappuzha - Mavelikara - Pandalam

    or

    Salem - Aluva - Alappuzha - Changanasherry - Pandalam

Folks from Kerala, please help me understand the conditions of our roads once I cross the border

ah..u intend to do your run in.okay.
1.coimbatore-palakkad-thrissur route:there are bad patches along the hilly sections in kerala.as in pathetic.most probably not fixed since monsoons.there were hartals demanding to fix it but not much effect.check for this.in Thrissur not much issues.inside palakkad district also ok-ok.
      2.Thrissur -ernakulam route:good 4lanes.max speeds here.60 kilometers
3.ernakulam -alapuzha.once u enter alpey things start getting bad.changanassery route is alright thou.not 4 lanes remember.traffic high.but lush greenery/backwater scenes into alpey the further south u travel in Kerala the heavier the road congestion.plus no 4 lanes and higher risk of ksrtc bus collisions!!road conditions again just ok-ok.
4.my suggestion u travel as much as possible in tn if possible for the good roads(I believe) just cause 390 has a comparatively harsher ride.or build a strong back.are u native to Kerala?speed cameras are present in thrissur cochin and alpey cochin sections.but there are warning signs for the same as well.few dont work :s.

ot:not even one delivery at cochin(kerala) ktm it seems.i was about to book this month.just checked in the ownership post and got this sad news.

Thanks for the info bro. Yes, me a malluz, else why would I be going to a town no one ever heard of?

I would have done the Angamaly > Muvattupuzha > Kottayam > Chengannur > Padalam stretch had it not been for the pathetic roads between Muvattupuzha > Chengannur

The Kuttanad road, one knock, and you're in the water

I plan to do atleast 750Km run in before hitting the highway as I don't want to do constant speeds in run-in. Worst part is, no time at all to do the run in before highways. Bike expected on 14th and was supposed to be home on 16th for Eid I either miss Eid or mess up run-in.

Bump is what u get in alpey now.bad stretches have been temporarily mended.none of the speed cameras work.had done a trip that way.road is bumpy, but at least no super huge potholes.u can ride easy.
