Hi Guys,
First of all thanks a lot for all the Xbhpians and [MENTION=39369]Mizt[/MENTION] who gave lot of confidence to plan this long trip. All my friends were scolding me badly for this trip. Even i too was double minded in the beginning. But after visiting all your travelogues and experiences, here i am with the plan.
Pardon me for lot of questions and lot of blunt statements in the planning....
Note: I know this is a too early plan for December trip, but i want to make sure nothing goes wrong or miss any special things. And more over this is our first long drive. I have drove some 400km once but not this type of trip. and especially new to the entire stretch. I have planned max 400 km a day . since all the places are new we may visit few places on the way also.
Here goes my plan....
I am planning a trip with [MENTION=39369]Mizt[/MENTION] and couple of friends from CHENNAI to GOA.
Below is our tour details along with route map...
Route: Bangalore - Jog falls-honavar-karwar-panjim(forward)
Return : west coast road ,Goa-karwar-udipi-Manglore-Hassan-Bangalore
Bikes to be used on trip: 2 RE Classic 350 and 2 Yamaha fz16
Day1: Start by 27th Dec afternoon by 2:30 pm reach Bangalore(350km) by 9 max. take rest in Bangalore that night.
Day2: start by 28th early morning by 5:30am and ride through tumkur-thiptur-shimoga-sagara and reach jog falls(380 km). We will have pit stops in between and have tea and breakfast. Planning to reach jog falls by 2 pm(8+ hours). We will have lunch near jog falls. Visit jog falls and start again by 5pm. Reach honavar by 7 pm (60 km) night rest. If any things goes wrong or something we may stay near jog falls itself. I am not sure whether we can do this stretch in the above timing. Not sure of the road conditions. heard it is ghat road. Need your inputs on this.
Day 3: Again start by 6 am on 29th take the west coast road. Honavar-ankola-karwar-goa(200km). If any not to be missed places in karwar or other on the way, we will visit and have breakfast and start again and reach Goa by 12 noon max.
Day 4,5,6(30,31,1,) Goa plan to be decided. We are starting on 1st by 11am and reach dudhsagar falls(70 kms) which can be reached through bike.return to room and take rest(Here not sure this can be done in half day. Many saying not possible) Need your here pls..
Day 7 : 2nd Jan start from hotel by morning 9am( if can earlier) take the west coast road. Heard the road is damn good now. Reach udipi by evening. On the way we will see OM beach, murudeshwar , maravanthe beach, malpe beach. Will stay in udipi(3300km) itself. If we can push it, we can go Mangalore and stay. not sure we can push it. As of now udipi..
Day 8 : 3rd start from udipi if possible we can see some temples. Start to Mangalore(50 km) have breakfast, roam in Mangalore not sure what to do heard fish will be good need to do ground work.
and drive to Hassan (180 km). back to Ghats road. Heard trip will be good(not sure of this too) reach Hassan by evening. See some places if any not sure of these too.Take hotel rest.
Day 9: 4th Jan morning get up roam nearby places like Hoyasala temples and finish lunch. Start from there reach Bangalore by 4pm. If time permits we can come to Chennai that night itself since roads are good. So that we will have one complete day rest before our routine life...
This is my rookie plan. Please pass on your comments about the trip. Point out the mistakes, worst roads, best roads, must see places which is affordable in the time lines. also need inputs on weather also....

Ya ya we are aware of that......We thought, you are taking about the climate and road conditions. We know goa is at its peak by new year, but we IT guys get vacation by that time only to plan for such a long trip. We will try to enjoy safely....Thanks for the heads up....
