  • Bangalore to Rajasthan/Gujarat and Back

    Hi guys,
I am planning on a short ride for the end of December, 2013. I am planning to ride from Bangalore to Jaisalmer-Jodhpur and then to Rann of Kutch for HV Kumar's All India Meet. Below is the itinerary I have planned.

My primary targets are Longewala village on India - Pak Border ( I want to pay homage to the martyrs of Battle of Longewala), Om Banna (The Bullet Baba shrine near Jodhpur) and finally Rann of Kutch.

Based on the above itinerary could you guys help me out by suggesting good highway side hotels at my destination points, things to be aware of in these stretches, whether there are any stretches where there are "human nuicances" in the form of dacoits etc?

Also since I would be riding solo I would much appreciate if you guys could help me know of good Enfield mechanics in these areas in case my bike runs into any mechanical trouble.

    Thanks

    2013-Death - Royal Enfield Electra

      Nice trip.
Just a small piece of information for you. I hope you might be aware of the condition of roads in Maharashtra.
As far as i know the conditions of roads from nashik towards Gujarat(via dharampur) are worse. Its till 50-60 kms from nashik. Generally the patching process starts from December onwards.
      Ride safe.

Hey, I will advise you not to take the pune nashik road. Its a 2 lane highway with people driving/riding like maniacs. You can take the nh 4 via lonavla , panvel , if you can afford to skip nashik.

Hi, I was hoping to avoid the Mumbai city traffic. Is there anyway I can bypass the Mumbai traffic on my way from Pune and reach Gandhinagar without too much hassle?
[MENTION=20165]phanikar[/MENTION], Thanks bro, I will definitely check it out.

since you are visiting on sunday in mumbai there wont be much traffic if you get in mumbai before 4pm and then you can go by Pune - Panvel [Exit point]- Airoli - Bhandup Pumping - Thane - Ghodbunder road - Fountain hotel - Ahemdabad road [WEH].

from panvel to WEH [fountain hotel] it will hardly take 70- 90 minutes. distance ~65kms
