  • Help for a Solo Rider to Kerala

    Hey Friends ,

I am planning a solo Trip to Kerala on my KTM Duke 200.

I had made a Itinerary Draft for myself

NB: I also included coorg and ooty after reading about the crowning of that road by shell advance on xbhp.

Day 1 : Panaji To Mangalore
Day 2 : Managalore to Coorg
Day 3 : Coorg to Ooty
Day 4 : Ooty to Munnar
    Day 5 : Munnar Local
Day 6 : Munnar to Thekaddy ; Only 100 Kms , Evening Sight seeing
Day 7 : Thekaddy to Allepy
Day 8 : Allepy to Kanyakumari
Day 9 : KanyaKumari to Tiruvanatpuram
Day 10: Kovalam Beach ; an extra day could be spent at Allepy (before ) in place of this as I am from Goa .
    Day 11: Kovalam to Cochin ;
    Day 12: Cochin to Mangalore
Day 13 : Mangalore to Panaji

    Now ,
I wanted to know the following.
    1. How is the itinerary ? Any Suggestions for changes ......
    2. Any technical problems like rest days etc. , My experience is low. [Total number of days can be increased]
3.I have Tried searching for hotels at these places , there were hardly any available

So I wanted to know whether these places have a Good number of hotels NOT listed on sites like MMT, yatra etc ,Which I will get on the spot , especially the cheaper once???

    4. Any specific hotel any of you recommend?
    5. Any specific Kerala thing I should look for ?( i have heard about kerala massage , and also scuba diving at cochin )

Your itinerary is good. Don't worry, you will get rooms there. There are also many tourist destinations in kerala like Idukki Wagamon, Athirappalli waterfalls etc. Also visit Malabar a.k.a Kozhikode. Try to extend your trip and change your itinerary accordingly. Search for great tourist destinations in Kerala via google. You will get an idea. Welcome to God's Own Country.

It's not about how hard you get hit... It's about how hard you get hit and just keep moving forward.

Your story may not have such a happy beginning... But that doesn't make you who you are... It is the rest of your story... Who you chose to be.

You are welcome. Ayurvedic massage is good. Your mind and body will get relaxed. Have one. But check thoroughly for a good reputed massage centre. There are bad ones too. Kovalam has good massage centres but not all or otherwise go for Kerala's most reputed ayurvedic companies centres.

If you can, try riding from M'lore to Kasaragod and then coorg, but it's longer by around 25kms. What you get as a reward is kasaragod-jalsoor stretch, which i consider one of the best biking roads in India. Once you pass Sullia you'll get very bad stretch for around 20kms, just manage that, you'll reach sampaje, take a break, cos after that the road you'll get supersmooth winding road all the way to madikeri. enjoy..

Not sure which roads you are going to take, but if possible avoid NH17. It is a pain to drive on because of traffic.

Hi Siddharaj! Your itinerary looks good but maybe more details would be needed to further help you. I wish I could guide you on the current road conditions but I'm out of the country now. Tagging along friends to guide you. Also, posting this in the Kerala g2g thread will be more helpful for you.

Day 8 : allepy to Kaniyakumari and you can return to Trivandrum same day itself.

Allepy to kaniyakumari is around 220km and back to Trivandrum will be 80km approx. .. and Nagerkovil roads are in very bad condition.

You can return to Trivandrum on same day and stay in Trivandrum near Kovalam and next day you can have nice morning walk in Kovalam and after breakfast you can head to cochin ... Kovalam to Cochin is around 200km .. and you can go around in cochin at that same day.

May be we can meet at Kovalam

Day 9. Kovalam to. Cochin ..

Day 10 . Cochin to Mangalore.. try to visit the drivable beach in Kannure..
