I plan to return from Pondy by train on 11th as have some work there. Need some info on below pointers
    1. Are the timelines ok/too tight?
    2. Any precautions to be taken for specific parts on the route? (like in some parts the roads are closed during night?) Also, places which might be too crowdy to stay because of holiday season, etc.
    3. Any places worth visit nearby these? I'm ok to reach Pondy even on 8th. So if I should extend my stay in between. Please let me know.
    4. I heard that there is some new road tax in Kerala that has come up, is it applicable to bikes?
    5. Any agent/transporter you can refer from Pondy/Chennai to Pune bike transfer.
    P.S. I ll be riding a Thunderbird 350.

I've done Pune - Goa - Pune - Total 1300 k on my Bajaj Xcd earlier, But I'm a regular doing 6-700 km trip every six months and Pune - Mumbai every weekend.
This is a 2700km trip spanned over 11-12 days.

    Thanks,

    Aniket

In regards with the monastery, since you are going on 28th and it is a sunday, try to visit it in morning 9-9.30. After that by noon-evening it starts getting flooded with people.

        Thanks for the input

In Bekal region, I heard this is the season of Thaiyyam dances and I am fascinated about it since I read about it in Wiliam Dalrymple's Nine Lives. Could you please let me know, if there is any chance of catching it in any temples etc? I don't want to go for orchestrated (kathakkalli, etc) dances in theatres, as they seem to be too artificial.

Also, guys, Any pointers on cheaper, comfortable hotels for night stay would be cool!

        Thanks,

        Aniket.
