    Touring Route Help Approved

The route you have jotted down is by and large awesome to ride on. You shouldn't have any problems of bad roads anywhere. Others might be able to help with places to visit.

All the best for your ride!

I feel that you are taking a route that will involve the same roads multiple times. How about doing it sequentially -

      06th - Mumbai to Ahmedabad
07th - Ahmedabad to Udaipur via Mount Abu - spend half the day in Mt. Abu and reach Udaipur by nightfall
08th - Around Udaipur - plenty of places
09th - Udaipur to Ajmer/Pushkar via Nathdwara and Kumbalgarh fort - go to Pushkar's Brahma temple and the Pushkar lake etc.
10th - Ajmer to Jaipur (only 130 Kms) so sightseeing around Jaipur too (hit Nahargarh, Jaigarh and Amer fort for sure, cover other things within the city)
11th - Jaipur to Bhangarh and back - make sure you carry less/no luggage. Bhangarh involves parking the bikes and walking a long way
12th - Jaipur to Sawai Madhopur - go to Ranthambhore - there are so many tigers that you will end up seeing some for sure
13th - Sawai Madhopur to Chittorgarh - go to the fort
      14th - Chittorgarh to Ahmedabad
      15th - Ahmedabad to Mumbai

I'd try to stuff in Jodhpur as well by going there from Udaipur on the 9th and then riding through Ajmer on 10th but that is up to you

        Re: Mumbai to Rajasthan

I'd go with what Tanay has to say.

To add I'd suggest to make Jaipur as the base for your journey. Lots of places accesible from there. So you can do Jaigarh & Nahargarh in one day & then Amer the next along with Hawa-Mahal & there's another place with large weaponary display (forgetting it's name) + Taste local cuisines at LMB, then Ranthambore & back.

Once you're done at Jaipur on the return you can visit Ajmer+pushkar & rest at Udaipur, Spend the next day just at Udaipur & leave for Mt.Abu spend half a day there & return to Ahmedabad visit the car museum there. Next day ride back to Mumbai.

I'd not suggest Jodhpur unless you plan to go upto Jaisalmer since that'll push you guys off track a bit. But then again if you guys have time do visit there.

I say this coz I had a similar plan which is yet to materialize, though since I've personally been to most places in Jaipur(my parents are settled there ), so my plan was Ranthambore + Abu Udaipur.

          Re: Mumbai to Rajasthan

I and my friends just did the following tour:

          Nashik - Ahmedabad
          Ahmedabad - Jaisalmer
          Jaisalmer - Jodhpur
          Jodhpur - Udaipur
Udaipur - Indore and back home.

While staying at Jaisalmer we also went to Tanot Mata temple which is situated in Tanot. Its the temple that is featured in the bollywood movie 'Border'. Also there you can visit Longewala which is the place where a battle occurred during the Indo-Pak war of 1971. The road to these places is pretty good except for the last part which is complete gravel. We had fun riding with the sand dunes besides though.

In Jaisalmer you can visit the Sam sand dunes where you can stay in tents overnight. Its a good experience overall I felt.

The cold was intense when we were travelling from Ahmedabad to Jaisalmer. Because of incorrect map reading we took a road that was about 100kms longer and hence had to ride at night in order to reach Jaisalmer. I was wearing 5 layers of clothes plus a DSG riding jacket but still it felt quite cold. At about 3.00 am we had to stop at a dhaba because of the sheer cold.

The roads are truly great in RJ. Even the small village ones are very nice to ride on.

No i don't have the contacts now but in the Sam desert you can just go and book the tents and the jeep safari. When we were there the prices started from around 2K for tent stay (with dinner and breakfast) and jeep safari.
