  • Delhi-Mumbai-Delhi: Solo trip by first timer: advisable?

    Hello everyone!

I'm contemplating a Delhi-Mumbai-Delhi solo tour (read the thread by paul.1911 http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/touring-...bai-delhi.html) . My longest ride till date has been 200 kms long, and that too was in a group.

    Motorcycle: Yamaha YZF-R15s
Odo reading: 1265 kms (bought it in November 2015)

Plan- start from Delhi early in the morning on 16th Feb, reach Navi Mumbai by 17th Feb late evening. Start Return journey on 20th Feb. No night riding.

    My concerns:
    1. I have no touring experience at all
    2. Bike has just completed run-in, should I take it out on highways, and that too for such a long journey?
    3. Safety along the route
    4. Night stay

So before making any further queries, should I take this plunge? (Really want to take though)

    Query Approved

Why would you want to ride down for just a couple of days? You will be far too exhausted from the ride to enjoy your stay, especially since you have never ridden long distance before.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Well, I have an office related training session to attend there, in Kalwa to be specific. Accommodation will be provided by the company itself (even air tickets, but....want to go on a biking tour). So, not sensible?

For your first trip, I would suggest you undertake a long tour with a free mind and the luxury of a long vacation. Choose a scenic destination and road and ride along soaking in the scenery while being relaxed Why do it for an official tour when you are getting flight tickets from your organization
The way you ride is the way you are..

Well, I'm also looking forward to a Mumbai-Delhi-Mumbai trip next year by May.
I'm a first timer too! Longest trip done- 500kms. Faridabad-Rewari-Faridabad with group.
Bike owned- Honda CBR250R Non ABS
            KMS Done- ~27500
Bought the bike in March '15
I'm also considering recording my journey and thus am gonna buy a helmet cam, a mic setup and a BT set to connect with the phone.
Any advice for the preparations? And, if possible, any price estimates?
I'm thinking of stretching the journey over 3 days with stops at Vadodara and Ajmer. No night riding involved.
I'll be carrying a backpack and a tankbag.
Gears- SMK helmet, Cramster TRG2 gloves, PGS jacket, ProBiker Speed boots and will be purchasing knee pads soon.
