Information needed about Kolkata to Siliguri Route!
Hello Friends, we are planning Sikkim trip (me on Yamaha Fazer 153cc and my friend on RE Classic 500). We have no idea about the route through Morgram-Farakka-Malda-Raiganj-Dalkhola which is 100km less than the route through Massanjor-Dumka-Bhagalpur-Purnea-Dalkhola. We are planning to leave from Kolkata at 2-30am most probably and hopefully to reach within 9pm at Siliguri. Which route is better? I prefer long route than broken roads. Suggestion needed. Thanks in Advance.
Regards
Saikat

Also post in the Kolkata offline thread. Someone from there would surely have done this route.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Re: Information needed about Kolkata to Siliguri Route!
2 routes u need to avoid for a peaceful ride
1. Moregram-Farakka-malda siliguri
2. Purnea-bhagalpur-Rajoun- massanjore.
They are horrible, bad roads, crazy truck traffic , u name it
It's there.
A friend took Durgapur- Asansol-Jamtara-Palajori-Dumka-Deogarh-Banka-Amarpar-Bhagalpur -Purnea, during the same.month as we did and reached siliguri in under 12hours(on a CBR) and we had to split the route into 2 days

Re: Information needed about Kolkata to Siliguri Route!
Right now the NH34 which was very much damaged like an offroad from Berhampur to Raiganj, I am now really surprised that the new road is just awesome like any Highways (except the farakka barage), and the roads are actually far better than dumka-bhagalpur stretch.Regards

Re: Information needed about Kolkata to Siliguri Route!
Take Kolkata-Dankuni-Shaktigarh-Bardhaman Stn-Khargram-Moregram-Farakka-Malda-Raiganj-Dalkhola-Kishanganj-Bidhannagar-then Siliguri via a canal side shortcut.Originally posted by Soubarna Karmakar View PostSo Which route do you suggest we take now, the burdwan route or dumka bhagalpur?
The roads are very good on NH2, Burdwan to Moregram (5% big potholes in between), Farakka to Raiganj (NH34), Bidhan Nagar to Bagdogra (before reaching Siliguri, there are total 5 massive craters, if reaching in the night, follow a car & do not cross 40kmph because the carters might come suddenly like a nightmare).
The roads are very bad on Farakka barrage, Moregram 3-Point, Raiganj to Dalkhola.
You may find some careless people roaming on road after Dalkhola, so careful again.
Total journey will be around 14-15hours if you do speed on freeway around 80-90+ and maintain calculated stops.
Hotel Vinayak in Siliguri (Sevoke More) is cheap also have parking of bikes, but do not eat lunch/dinner there, canteen bills are very very high.Regards

Re: Information needed about Kolkata to Siliguri Route!
The Bhagalpur - Purnea route is 10 times better than Malda - Farakka route. Despite it being 100 kms long also, you will save at-least 3 hours .
Keep it simple . Take Andul toll straight to Durgapur -> Asansol -> Dumka -> Bhagalpur -> Purnea -> Islampur -> Siliguri (Dumka to Bhagalpur is the only bad section)

Road condition from Siliguri to Kolkata
Hello all,
I am planning a trip from Guwahati to Kolkata on end of january 2017. I am planning to take this below route which is through Purnea-
Is this road good? I know this will add approx 200km extra on the distance but I am not sure about the conventional road i.e. Siliguri>Malda>Farakka Bridge>Burdwan>Kolkata as it's very very bad road.(Although don't know about the current scenario..Is it still that bad??)
Also can you suggest good hotels in between?
Thanks,
RitabrotoIF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO RISK IT ALL, THEN YOU DON'T WANT IT BAD ENOUGH
