  • Pune to Goa Road Trip !

    Hello Everyone!

I am going for a road trip from Pune to Goa on 30th of this month.

I am a rookie rider, with almost no LONG DRIVE experience. Except a couple of Pune-Mahabaleshwar and Pune-Lonavla, I haven't been to any rides.
I have ample of riding experience in the City but Long Drive is a different story all together.

I own an Enfield Classic 350. Got it serviced Yesterday !

I plan to take Pune-Kolhapur-Nippani-Amboli Ghat route and start the journey at around 2200 HRS.

Any tips for my first 500km+ ride ?
Route tips, Places to watch out during the ride..any Specific Dhabas ?

I can really use all the information available for my first trip !
Will be highly obliged if all the Experienced, Pro riders shower their tips !

I would advise you to avoid riding at night not only because it is dangerous but you will miss out on the scenery at Amboli ghat. Budget for a ten hour ride to North Goa from Pune. Plenty of diversions from Pune till Satara which are in a state of disrepair. You can halt at Sai Inn before Kolhapur which is on the highway and then again if you want at Nipani where the turn off to Amboli begins. I don't think anything will be open in the middle of the night on Amboli ghat. If you suffer a breakdown on the ghat it is possible you will have a tough time finding a mechanic to fix it. Suggest you leave at around 4 or 5 am instead so that you reach Nipani by mid morning. You can alternatively try going to Belgaum and Chorla ghat which is more scenic but a longer route by around 60 km. All the best for your ride.
